Dave, My phone died and I lost your address to return the chilly pack to. Can you PM it to me again. Cheers

The 991 GT3 RS will be PDK-S only. There will not be a manual.

Used GT3 prices are still very reasonable in NZ compared to UK & USA.

The announcement of a manual only Cayman GT4 in the near future may have a bigger impact on used 7.1 GT3 prices than any subsequent or new GT3/RS launches. It's all but confirmed the car will be 3.8L, 380 bhp parts bin special with more aggressive handling and will outperform earlier GT3 on road and track. Base price in the USA is likely to be around 90k so in USA & UK/Europe markets this will be quite an affordable alternative to an older GT3 and may also come with a track warranty like the new 991 GT3. Best get on the order books in the next month or two however as I believe RHD cars will be fairly scarce...
AND with nzd/eur now .66 maybe euro delivery 10% cheaper?? What do you reckon Macca?

I did the math at 63.5 sane as I used in GT3 SS. I buy my FX at 0.30 pips over wholesale, however I suspect the spread is greater with NZ retail banking unless you go through treasury (john to advise). Either way current movement is good for NZD holders (I'm 90% USD having anticipated NZD cross rate weakness last year in line with general wisdom). uSD cross rate moved to 1.12 last night so I may pick up a little more Euro for 2016. If you are NZD centric might be good time to put away some E over next little while for a new GT4....I'd just like to know the launch pricing but suspect that's months away:-(

Even in my own case the sale price in 2014 approximates the buying power my money had in 2001. In other words the opportunity costs and other costs are all real losses.

In all but the rarest of cars the best value proposition is to drive it. To be honest my biggest regret with the Turbo 3.6 is that I didn't sell it with another 50,000 km on the odometer. My overseas work took away the opportunity to drive it when it was just another ageing car.
Yip you had the super model John and all the time you've been saving her for someone else

Just a quick reminder that the Daytona 24 Hour starts tomorrow morning. Bamber's Porsche, car 912, has qualified 10th in class (GTLM). The second GTLM Porsche, Car 901, has qualified 8th. On other NZ news: Hartley in the Prototypes has qualified 8th in class

I paid 0.25% margin when I changed GBP to NZD. It hurts to know exactly how $ they take but it's a service.

Guess it depends on the rate offered but that sounds like a fair margin given the size of transaction....

A satisfying day on the 964 today with a bunch of small errands completed. first was the spoiler mod Paul provided the link to, so now it's operated by the cockpit control rather than automatically. a simple plug out option that is reversible.

I also thought 80kph is a bit silly for it to rise automatically. Since making it manual only it doesn't seem to affect temp but will check close. Internet speculators suggest 180kph is when the subtle aero comes into play.

next was fixing the horns that sounded asthmatic. simply needed the contacts cleaned and bingo. Alto and Tenor singing in unison. Then came the hard part cleaning the gunk and finding the oil leak near the oil cooler thermostat. seems it's the small oil pipe that connects to the tank on the right perishing. other pipes look sweet still. I'll leave this to ccs to replace as I don't need 10 liters of oil on the driveway trying it.

Good to see you spannering. Absolutely leave those pipes to CCS. Looks like the shark fin clips could be due for a change. That's a DIY job

I also did a bit of car work. I made up a RJ11 socket and connected it to a cigarette lighter plug. That gives me a solid power supply for the V1 in the R. I also sorted out some things on the Specialist Components kit. I coated the foam filter with a special oil. Cleaned the ISV and connected the laptop to the ECU in anticipation of tuning the LWF stalling out.

WINDSCREENS, anyone interested in a new one?
I have a lead on some new 964 and 911 windscreens, I'm getting one for mine so once I have prices I can post it up if anyone wants one.
Indications are around 500 for a brand new screen.
