Nik - between you and Paul you have a very cool Porsche photo archive. Keep them coming - awesome stuff.

Here are both cars at Le Mans:

But here is the interesting thing, here is a RHD 993 GT2 attending Racing Rays attempt at the NZ Land Speed Record in 1995:

This car was first registered in August 1995 and removed from NZ in August 1999.

As a side note, how many RHD 993 GT2 were built? I have read 7 to the UK? These UK figures always seem to morph into ROW figures. Also I understand the 993 ran for 2 or 3 model years 1995-97 (172 produced) and 1998 (21 produced) Were RHD models built in both runs? Or was the shorter run LHD only?
Nik. I have the answer to most of these questions........In storage in NZ. I also had the discussion with Bill Farmer. You jogged my memory. They had the 993GT2 delivered to them in UK for race prep. I think Rook may have done some work. The silver road car Im pretty sure is Bill getting out (with more hair than he has today) at Rays record attempt. I think that car went back to the UK but I always felt it was earlier than 1999....otherwise I have all the 993GT2 stats but as I say in reference books in NZ....

Regardless of the weather there is a 964 storm brewing offshore about to make landfall Sunday. I for one love a good storm so will be glued to the outcome. My guess is both cars will make sub 1.20

You forgot cup door cards :-)

Weighing them is a good idea. Maybe we try to do that on Saturday? Would be interesting to compare.

Then we could spend Saturday afternoon stripping more non-essential stuff out after seeing how heavy they are.

Can't see me doing that on old Dunlop track tyres. May have to switch to the R888s for safety reasons since we're running uninsured.

Yes, that would eliminate fuel differences.

Dougie - 888's are 1-2 seconds slower than 221's. You need to get proper rubber on your car mate.

Might have to GPS track Lola to make sure she doesn't go for a long drive after the weigh in

Yes, but slower is safer and we are running without insurance...

slower not necessarily safer, good prep is safer, good tyres is safer, good driving is safer.....insurance is not safer - just reduces financial cosequence
always get the best rubber Dougie like Paul says

Just yanking the proverbial motorsport chain here Graeme.

There is always talk of being kind to cars etc, then it all disappears the moment we hit the track. The red mist runs strong in the Gruppe.

Heres an interesting Youtube clip posted Friday.

It looks like the first 991 GT3s with the new engine have been pressed into service as part of the RingTaxi fleet. I know a few NZ Rennlisters have been over to Germany in the last 12 months so if you are heading over there would encourage you to book in advance and give it a go. This guy makes it look very easy chatting away as he drives. Makes you wonder circulating up to 240kmph in jeans and a T shirt....

The engine sound is very familiar....

Default 996 seat rails/adapters wanted

Hi Doug. Talking about period seats, here's my secret weapon for the Sprints, to stay the right side of Paul (awesome times mate). Saves about 20kgs and hey, a comfortable driver is a safe driver:

Seriously though, what I'd like is this:

Size: 387.5 KB

But without some 996 seat rails to attach the slider to, the only place I can attach it securely is here:

Size: 373.7 KB

I only need the flat adapter strips or plate that bolts to the OEM mounting points in the floor so I can attach the (short, 964 sized) slider on top. Anyone have some seat adapter rails/plate spare?
