Ill break up the tedium. I bought a sharkwerks bypass today for the GT3. They helped me out so I could showcase it in NZ. I swear its the only reason I bought it. This car isnt being modded (another great T shirt slogan!), so I also bought some white blankings for the lower reflectors in the back bumper (because they are ugly). I bought a 600lbft 3/4" split wrench with measurement gauge as recommended by hard core track guys in the USA for removal of the Centre Lock wheels roadside should I ever get stranded. I also got me a new 991 GT3 badge so I can peel off the "PORSCHE" and "GT3" badge with a heat gun (done this a few times ove rthe years on the 993) and re apply the new GT3 badge centre square. Should look like below.

The tires arrived from Tireack a few days ago. Great service. Not too pricey given the sizes. I wont need them for a while now....

Macca, I may have missed this a few thousand posts ago, but I thought Tirerack had been prevented from exporting to NZ? Or was that just Mich, Bridge, Pirelli?

A chip needs to be built on a base map file which corresponds to the ECU part number and version which is printed on the outside of the Motronics ECU cover. You cant just use any chip. Jamie and a few others on here ran into this issue a number of years back.

I tried to get Toyo R888s from them but they're not allowed to supply them out of the USA. I expect it only applies to some of the brands they carry.

Sam. Yeah, I think that was the case for some brands. Maybe they got a slap on the wrist, waited a while and started again. I priced up the same tyres from design911 in UK and the landed difference was very heavily in favour of the USA supply side. That said with N rated tyres the difference was very small. To give you a guide the Michelin Super Sports I bought for the 993 before Xmas were $945 USD plus shipping. These were 18" x 235+275. The GT3 needs big shoes. 245+305 R20 Superports were $1425 USD. Shipping was quoted between $325-375 for the two different sizes. It was a 7 working day turn around from payment. I have no idea how much the SuperSports for the GT3 would be in NZ as no one stocks them yet (says Richard). Id guess $4500. Maybe 4000 on a special deal. Big savings to be had...

GoPro mounts seem to best stocked at www.photowarehouse.co.nz/gopro/ suction mounts are good quality.

iPhone is still hot and miss. I last bought one from Dick Smith for $25. Still flexes too much for my liking.

For track data work, the AIM is good. Unless I doing a time attack I'm happy to lend mine out and give traces. For all of the 964 guys out there, we probably have the most to gain from using some objective data as we can't power out of situations. It's all about flow and there's nothing more brutal than seeing an objective view of what you are doing as opposed to what you think you are doing. Try to persuade Steve to take you out in his 964 for a reality check. It's brutal.

Looks like some brands are still restricted. However if Michelins were this cheap in NZ I would never need another brand for any of my cars. Except the Z221 for track tyres of course (they are very limited in sizes and nothing above 18s)

Yes, you do. You also need to get a customs ID. You can keep that number for up to 2 years between uses. GST and customs are usually debited to your credit card. FedEx ring you for payment when your goods arrive.

I have solid rear subframe mount kit (top and bottom rear subframe mounts to replace the spongy rubber OEM ones). They have a small degree of tilt in them.

Otherwise only mods to rear suspension is PSS10 with monoballs, OEM RS adjustable ARBs and recently rear spherical jointed toe arms (picture below - were same price as Porsche stock OEM replacements).

Driving on Z221s at 10/7th your rear toe arms will be shot within 2 track days. They are 20 years old and on the way out already. You should order the toe arms now. Ask Dean I tell the truth. Otherwise you have to re geo the rear again after.

As you know, this is what is meant my preventative maintenance. Anticipate the level of usage and apply the product that will remove the chance of failure. There are no short cuts. In 10 years time if you still have your 993 (or John still has his C4) you will have spent almost the same as me. I cant wait for things to fail, that means time, money and frustration. So I built with the usage in mind and to the level recommended from the get go. The mistake I made was with the suspension I did it three times either being tight *** or miss understanding my future usage. Cost alot in mistakes that one...

I have you donw for a potential 1.16-1.17 at HD Paul once you get the car sorted. Need to put some distance between the Herminator as it sounds like Johns importing a Nitro kit for it. Actually maybe its just some more HD decals. Whatever...
