Yes, too many options for tackling the itch! All research on tipo to manual conversion suggests 993 6 speed, but almost everyone recommends against it.

I know Steve has done one.

Looking closer at this car yesterday, I think it's a 79 SC with 3.2 S/S on PMO's, so circa 250hp??

paul. you cant buy a 6speed box and have it refurbished for under 10k. the engineering in a conversion would run unto many 100s hours first time around i would suggest.

sean is doing the smart thing looking at very fine competition machines in usa that can be road registered in NZ. The value is just crazy. for 60-70k NZD landed on road you can simply get a world class competition aircooled 964/993. Just go to Rennlist classifieds and check out some of the car that have sold over the last 6 months.

Only reason to build locally would be to enjoy the project and gestation. It might not make any sense financially but lifes not all about money. Our P car passions should be the least sensible of our spending. This is a hobby and its supposed to be fun.

May just be the way it photographs but it looked a touch rough. Ding on the back bumper for sure and I've seen cleaner engine bays - all cosmetic I know! Non varioram car and no idea of overall condition - suspension/engine etc. Maybe Jamie knows this car from down his way? Its not too badly priced depending on what work is needed.

I see Chris has been outbid now.

I didn't ask, but sounds doable. C4 also already has brakes sorted.

When I was donkey deep in my rebuild I think it was going to be $8,000, which included a credit for my C4 bits.

I think it's a matter of swapping the gear box for the C2 unit, then removing the extra bits.

BTW. I was given a fixed price offer of $23,750 for a silver C2 tip about 6 months ago. This would end up around the same price.

I like Sean's approach. The track makes LHD workable.
