Have a look at the following link for fastest lap times in the Porsche Club race series for all the north island circuits in the 2011/2012 race season http://www.porsche.org.nz/PorscheClu...25792D0006AA98. This also breaks it down in to the different classes in the series.

Thanks for the link Chris

Chris. You might wish to consider the Solo DL version. The more research I did on this topic the more I realized that like many things Ive done with the car if I start with the Solo I will eventually want the benefits of the DL. The DL can be connected to the cars ECU (OBD2 or CAN so not so easy for the 944 if its running the factory Motronics) so you can get up to 8 channels of additional data including throttle position, rpm etc overlayed on the data. The videos you see of people on the track with the track map and the dials etc use this type of system then overlayed with some free download software (which creates the visual of the dials etc) and it gives many more layers of useful data so you can see exactly what gear, rpm, throttle position etc) you are using at that precise point on the track. The more I read the more I realised if you are serious about data acquistion this is where you need to go and most guys start with the basic kit then upgrade. The DL is twice the price however - but there are cheaper solutions for this such as Racechrono touchscreen out of Au which many of the Porsche guys were using during the Rennsport weekend. This has a sepeate 20hz GPZ transponder (size of a matchbox) and uses bluetooth to connect to a colour touch screen panel which has racechrono package onboard. You then use a bluetooth enabled OBD2/Can port transmitter to connect your ECU (extra $149 aud). It looks like a nice lower cost package and runs without wires so you arent breaking any insurance stipulations.

In the end I decided Id wait for either the Solo DL or buy the RaceChrono system (about to have alot of work done on the 993 so being practical for once) but then I saw the Racelogic box come up cheap on TM and thought that would be a good interim solution...

Just some ideas...theres alot of info on Rennlist and other boards about various options. Solo DL gets excellent reviews and many bolt on SmartyCam so with the ECU readings they have full acquistion. A guy like you will need more data to understand how to go quicker at a place like HD. For the rest o us basic stuff like John has displayed will help alot. Your traces dont give much away as to how you can improve - youd need full data acquisition to better determine IMHO...

Hi Paul. Its on TM for $125. Has three watchers already so suggest it may sell soon. I think it comes with motor and chassis but no hand controller or ECS. You buy those separately on the frequency you want to run (or use a digital system).

Mine was midnight blue metallic (ex Singapore) and isnt in the photograph. The Red race car was rolled bowled and a**holed during a Targa tour in the early 2000's and re built with an entirely new shell. The yellow one was a bit of a Mutt. I almost bought it in HK but smelt a rat. Max from the Toyshop ended up importing it and it was a colour change that had had a real hard life. Had been on the circuit and had a few offs. CCS spent a fortune getting it right. He finally offloaded it and the new owner had it stolen a few months later found stripped out in the Waitaks. I almost bought iit again at the turns auctions but was bidding against a gazillionaire kiwi who owns the red race livery one mentioned already. He bought it fixed it up (not all original parts) and then resold it......the only "straight" 993RS in NZ are the red on in this picture (ex Simon - Johns friend) and the Iris blue one owned by Robert Dong in WTGN. Even mine had been in a biggish off in Malaysia on teh circuit by its first owner although he owned a Porsche independent shop and did a really good job with the repair...

In a nutshell that's the story on 993RS in NZ

Thanks John, I was hoping someone was going to take the hint and do the maths for me Obviously buying overseas just isn't worth it. Now I just need to work out how to fit that into the car budget...

Interesting. It looks like I don't have much to gain by putting together a "perfect lap", rather I need some stronger brave pills and a good dash of driver improvement. I don't really have a good feeling for what my car could do in the right hands (need to get Steve to take it around one day perhaps), but my guess is there's another 2-3 seconds in the car and maybe half that in the driver.

Thanks for posting!

Matt, time to share yours...
