Good score with the helmet - big relief!

Maybe....

Does anyone here have a set of hydraulic wheel positioning dollys, like these?

http://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/onli...ecommendations

I am looking at the Sulco ones actually but can't seem to get a direct link to post. Would like to know if anyone has used them and can vouch for the quality?

I have a pair of those, which I used on the '93 Turbo 3.6. I bought a pair for $270, when on special.

They do the job, but there are a few things to be aware of:

1. 911 engine and exhaust parts limit the depth they can be inserted on the right hand rear, this means that the arms are tightening on the arm ends and I don't like to leave the car raised in that state

2. The wheels move akin to shopping trolley ones and need to be aligned to push easily in the desired direction.

3. Once a car is using these, the effort to get the car out for a drive means it will be used a lot less.

As a means of occasionally moving a car into a tight space they are good, but a car being moved often will become a chore. You are welcome to borrow mine for testing if you want.

I also have a set of these bought on special. I haven't used them yet but but will do so on the fraser which only weighs 600 kg so hopefully the wheel aligning is less of an issue for me. I had them stacked on the side in the original box packaging and opened it before xmas when cleaning up the garage. There had been some oil seepage so I took them to my race car prep guy to check and top up the hydraulic oil.

Dave. I think the challenge with the T in getting 1.20 or below will be grip. Given the limited contact patch I suspect the easiest answer is to use an R comp such as Steve would use/recommend on a rim of the type you are using. Perhaps a R888 or something...

Anyone figure out how to get the racing numbers off the car yet without causing scratches?

P.S. Jake = great pictures!

Yes, I'm no expert but clearly the limiting thing on the weekend was the rear tyres. I know some in the states are running 215 - 225's but this needs the 7R type fuchs with the extra inch of rim on the inside. After 5 laps the 205's were marshmellows. But it was fun to drive within that all the same.

I overheard some at the track discussing that and desolve-it seemed to get the thumbs up. After you pick the paper off of course

I was going to make the same comment as Macca. Even the lighter early cars need wider rims on the back to keep the car balanced.

As I said to you afterwards the last session of the sunday when I followed you the whole session I enjoyed that, watching your car, lines etc and thought you drove really well. You will probably find 215 more than enough grip with 185 or max 195 on front. It will make all the difference.

I tried to look on mylaps to find the times for the last session just to see if we were in fact consistent because it certainly felt consistent. Couldn't see it posted yet.

Thanks for the clues. I will run out of time to remove them on this trip so will have to sort it all out in March unfortunately...

^^^ Yup - what he said.

I think the C3 did a high 1.20 on 888's, given you are lighter and more HP - you would have to be 19's on these tyres.

Dave – 888’s are road legal, so must be a no brainer for your track tyres.

Remember Steve does high 17's in the early gulf race car, he would be similar weight with cage in, admittedly running 214's, but a lot less HP and torque than you - so I would be trying to replicate his set up on this car as you must have an 18 in there??

The white RS Rep with a tired 3.2 was doing 18 or 19's before 3.6 transplant.
