Tim. Thanks for that. Very interesting. I read all 20 pages of it tonight. That some very aggressive stripping to take out 200kg. I mean everything has gone including half the wiring. Few things I thought were too extreme including full HVACs (heat) and front and rear bumper bars and struts.

However the list is very interesting for a 993/964 owner contemplating weight removal.

I think I did ok getting 100+ nett (after additions) out of mine without taking out anything that couldnt be easily removed whilst retaining heat, sunroof, rear wiper, air con, sound deadening, and stereo. The theread has definitely helped me understand how I can get to 1295kg with full tank and half cage etc.

On the contrary as both are M96 and could lunch their engine any time Id take the "purer" 2WD with the higher KMs. When the engine needed doing I would have 20K in my pocket and could apply all the known remedies to make it track durable. Id also be 70+kg ahead of the game in weight....

Which brings us back to why Doug bought Lola. Dry sump, proven mezger engine and upright headlights. Doesn't get any better.

Yes but you cannot buy 964 C2 for $26K and the 996 with weight thrown out no cost (i.e. rear seats, carpet etc) will do under 1.20 at HD well driven...??

Until it lunches itself....

Two cars I remember from the RSG early days that made no more than 2 meets, a turbo kitted Boxster and a 996. I think the latter was owned by someone called Lance. Peter M didn't have much luck with his gen 1 engine either. Just saying. Meanwhile the Integra motors must keep on going. BB did 680 laps of HD and we couldn't kill her. BB2 did 2.5 hours of racing today and Ray circulated in 1.22 in his today as well. Many different ways to skin the track cat, many of them less expensive that a M96.

Could well have been. That would leave 50kg to account for. Seats are between 30 & 38kg saving depending on whether I had one or two in there. Ducktail weighs 6kg which must be a saving on the tin deck. Lwf? Cup pipe? Rear seat backs? Doesn't look too hard.

If we are looking outside of Porsche then an Integra R on Dot R will be as quick as the current crop of 964 for 17k. I met a young fellow at HD in September whilst getting a coffee at the cart, running a basically stock R on 888s with bucket seats who's PB in that car was 1.19.78.

Dougs been running boxsters for years on the track with no issues. The problems no doubt arise when you are starting to push on.

Guess its just the luck of the draw. Till recently Porsche would supply you a factory refurb swap out engine for under 20k. CCS fitted a few of these over the years.

I'm having a lot of trouble deciding on a gold for the wheels i'm looking at. I have some example disks. The left is 'Gold' the right 'Light Metallic Gold'. When against my car the Gold pops a little more than the LMG. The LMG has a lot of metallic flake on certain angles in bright sunlight.

Both change saturation slightly when viewed from different angles and in different light. Man, gold is such a difficult colour. Its particularly difficult to photograph and get a representative image

I've also attached a vid of a similar wheel that i took. This wheel is in Gold. Sadly i haven't seen an LMG live as all work wheels are custom made

Ideally i like something as close the the BBS E88 if anyone has seen one live?

Any opinions?
