For a cost comparison. SRF is approx $150 per litre compared Porsche fluid at $75 per litre.
My 996TT took one litre. The C4 took two litres. For the modern cars at least it's not an expensive upgrade. I've never had brake fade post SRF installation in the C4.
You getting a hard time John??
dnt worry that R is going to be a revelation and totally awesome. So fast in the corners and with pdk also down the straight that u gonna have to watch the braking distances. Great!

Graeme, I can sense what this car can do, but I have a day job and live in the burbs. The moment I hit the throttle I'm over the suburban speed limit.
Thanks for the recommendation of the IB Autogroup app for iPhone Doug (think it was you), is great to finally be able to post photos from my phone again.
That was Macca's cleverness that figured this one out. Good solution though.

That's the plan. Each week gets a little bit closer.

John, you're talking to Pete. An hour up the road is a doddle to him know. And the fun starts from Old North Road. I've done it a few times in the evening in the past to get some pcar stress relief.
Thanks for the visit tonight. I notice more sexyness in your R each time I see it. The black painted parts, including exhaust tips, are knockout. Sounds great heading up the street.
I too have the srf fluid, and it is awesome, but by god it's expensive too. It was already in my car when I got it, but otherwise I would have gone for RBF600/660 as it is much cheaper. You do need to bleed it more often than you think.
Silicon brake fluids (DOT 5.0 not DOT5.1) aren't really used anymore, as indeed they are not hygroscopic. SRF is compatible with all other types of fluids, DOT 3,4,5.1, but it's properties degrade hence the advise not to mix.
Dot 3,4 have higher viscosities than 5.1, hence the change in brake feel. I believe most racing type fluids are 4.
Have been meaning to ask: have any of you tinted your windows? I wasn't here last summer so this is my first long run of endless sunshine while out driving. I'm conscious of the effect it's having on both me and the car; I'm keen to protect the leather as much as possible.

Not a silly idea. However, from what I have seen, the vulnerable part on the 996, at least, is the dashboard. I'm not sure how you would protect that with tint. Maybe just use a windscreen shade if parked outside for a while.

Never seen a non factory tint that's aged well in NZ. Most get scratched or peel/delaminate over time. If your car is undercover at home and work and you don't have kids or pets in the car I don't think you need to worry too much. The leather will dry out and fade despite the sun so keep it nourished is the best you can do IMO.
