Shame it's a tipo - a manual C4S would be the ultimate top down in that price bracket - sub $50k.

In Cologne at the moment - serious Porsche fest on the roads here. Beautiful black 991 Targa outside our hotel - can't post pic from iPhone but will do later on Mac. Max got a short ride in it as concierge was bring it back from the parking garage.

I bet the rear number plate patina went out the window when the one in the red top was bent over washing it? You tried to stop her but the word "stop" couldn't be uttered at such a crucial moment, aye?

Hmmm.... It would tick a lot of boxes. I don't know the 996 911 range that well. This being the last year of manufacture it should have a strong engine. But it is not an S, right?

Having purchased a non-S 986 and being frustrated with running out of power I wouldn't want that experience again. Also, (hey don't bail me out on this comment) the model's interior is not that great vs the 997 - I'm over tacky add on cup holders for example.

Plus is the hard top - probably a 15k option which would be good for winter motoring. Minus is I think the 996 requires you to come to a top to put up/down the roof. In Auckland's changeable weather this as a PITA in my 986.

I've emailed the seller but out of time to go look at it in the short term. I think for an extra $15k the RS60 would be more enjoyable. The RS60 had better sell or else I'll end up owning it.

Macca I should have bought one of the spare video cams off you - sony or gopro - for Sweden. Just went and got one then saw your post a few pages back.

My Radcam used for Targa is too bulky with a separate wired control pad about the size of a mid size remote needing to be fixed in the car so installation not so easy

In the 996 the 'S' was only on the 4S (and turbo) and designated wide body & styling - not a power difference. 315hp for both it and the regular cabrio

Tempted yet....

Too right. Life is about priorities and some are tough. Man the camera versus save the plate...

If you are thinking of quitting them Macca, what would you want for the Sony? Might be interested.

Right now having a mare of a time with AIM. Smartycam HD has constant electrical buzz through 7 pin Can connection and Solo DL cant be left wired to the OBDII plug overnight or else it seems to decide to switch itself on randomly after a set amount of time and fire up the camera thats connected to it and they stay on and drain the battery. Im fast getting over this! Have done a wonderful job of mounting it all and hiding away the cables so its pretty much mount and go but the smartycam picture quality (average) and particularly sound (very average and now with constant high pitched hum) have me stumped. The Can cable obviously has limited shielding and they are saying its interference but this isnt a race car its a road car and I never had such issues before with remote mics on GoPro and Sony. Bloody Italians. The AIM head unit is OK but I have no idea about how it works really at this stage. I was trying for an all in one solution as touted but end up prototyping again. Very frustrated. Rant over.

P.S. Walt happy to do you a deal on one of the cameras but not parting with them till this above drama is sorted out sorry. Headache...

So, a merry Xmas to all on this endless thread.. best reading on the net, a plethora of information and mindless prattle, occasional good pic (thanks Walter..love the last one). Reading this thread is like watching evolution in fast forward.. lots of mindset changes etc.
Going boating for a month or so, so the poor wee Garage queen sits alone again..
