Sorry to hear of another accident but congratulations are still very much due on a well strategised and executed win. Long rallies/endurance events test speed but equally resilience, consistency and patience. Well done Graeme (and Kim).

You will need to buy or hire a Monit and Trackit. So 12-15K dependent if you needed tyres or not. The new format means the May Targa is now a 3 day event rather than the older format 5 day event. This is a lot more manageable financially. Expect 2600 entry fee then 4 nights accommodation, food, less for fuel and not as hard on the car in an endurance sense. My budget for this is $5500 excluding car prep (luckily nothing really needed this time around) and tyres (already have a set of near new SuperSports to be fitted prior to the event). For an older car it would be similar to preparing for a NITT.
Family noise about visiting friends in Japan over Easter will reach fever pitch if I even try to slip the question of attendance at that cost.

John. I understand. Remember with Herman I doubt that you would have much to spend on preparation and you can also share your cost with a co driver/navigator for accommodation, food and fuel, entry etc for if working together as a team that cost may be as low as $3000 for you as the primary driver and car owner with some additional maintenance no doubt around that time. You surely couldn't get a family to Japan on airfares alone for 3K. Just a thought....

Those 930 photos are awesome.

Interesting the number of 930's coming onto the market now at a slightly higher (perceived) price point.

2 years ago and you couldn't sell one for $50K.

How times change..............

P.s. - well done Graham

Yep pricing varies wildly at present.

The sub 50k one was more a reflection of how the market sees imports, I obviously understand if selling to an international market the green one may have been the best buy.

The only NZ new ones I recall listed in the last 18 months have been the white one (twice) & the Silver one today. The gunmetal one can still be had for a lot less than the two listed, plus has a rebuild.

The white one looks to be in the best condition of the lot, price reflects this I guess.

I remember LE 930 from my younger days watching it race at Baypark in the early / mid 80's. I think it ended up on its roof in one race. Lovely car. Lasting memory was when I was in my Corolla SR coupe flat out passing cars in a passing lane up the Kaimai ranges and Gordon Burr casually taking us all, three wide.

I blame Magnus... Given how much his '77 just sold for the local cars seem well priced? http://www.ebay.com/itm/251689655920

Is this the gunmetal one you're referring to? Has been on the market for quite a while now.

That must be the largest number of pics I have seen on an eBay ad. All of the driving bits sorted, but yes what a price. I was salivating over the refresh process more than the final product. Î can see a rebuild project in my future, and no I don't mean the Grinch. Not sure what or when, but it will happen eventually.

Thanks Macca. If I had to guess those would have been the numbers I would have guestimated. Food for thought. A 3 day event sounds much more manageable though I would really like to do the SI if they return

Warwick, there is a real benefit to being part of an organised group, and you would certainly be safer with closed roads etc, however those SI roads are free to use, lightly trafficed and lightly policed (only one driver in our group got pinged in many km traveled). There is a real cost in being on the road for a week or so, but it will be far less than $15,000. You would give up the higher speed and group involvement but still have 80% of the enjoyment. If it works out for next Easter, I'll be back down there.

My guess is that they will return to SI again sooner now. Perhaps for 25th Anniversary. i too would like to be part of that contingent.

The NI event is now of a manageable size/cost for most and I suspect it will increase in popularity from the SI event coverage.
