2014 Targa SI SS5 Gum Tree Flat Ford !! at end - YouTube

This is the stage that claimed the Lamborghini - the offending 'ford' is right at the end, the approach is flat and dead straight so most reasonably powerful cars will be approaching at 190kph+. I was lifting and braking to about 120-130khp. 2 cars didn't lift and the rear bounced off the rising road on the other side of the dip causing the cars to spear off the side of the road - you can see black lines

will post the crown range later
Graeme, thanks for posting. I look forward to seeing the crown range footage. Btw is that a shift light? If so, are they worth fitting to a track car?

Bet it felt fast in the car on those bumpy stages but can see what you mean when you say drivers were sometimes just watching their speedos at the 200k limit and waiting for the next corner to get closer.

Doug, I could be a goer for the May Targa Tour too but will decide closer to the time. I know it starts costing more to wait but I'd really want to be sure it will run at interesting speeds before deciding. There were one or two stages on the Ecolight Tour that were worth the price of admission (one was absolutely epic), but lower speed limits would have taken the shine off those for me. And even run under a 200k tour limit (not a problem on those roads), the last stage - a nice windy road with no evil bumps - was moderated down to no more than a rapid cruise by the pace car, to the frustration of more than a few in our 'fast' tour group.

That one epic stage ranks among my favourite bits of driving though, so if I'm convinced there'll be plenty more of that on offer I'll be in.

Oh. I understand now. I thought it was a bit cryptic!

I reckon on word count I probably win (but Walt is catching up quickly) LOL!

I still remember being the second poster on the tread 8.5 years ago! Doesnt time fly! I remember when you and I first hooked up on here over 12 years ago. Id been a voyeur since 2001 when I got my 993. its 14 years ownership very soon. I think you must be the same for the 964T!

I dont work so plenty of excuses to post. Pauls done pretty well actually - he must post as he drives!

Walt Ive never heard of anyone caveating a maiden Targa Tour entry on the basis that its not fast enough.

Just talk to Paul, Doug, Richard, Ron, Chris B and Peter H about the May 2013 NI TT - I think you wont find anyone saying it was too slow!!!

I spoke with Richard this evening and he said the SI TT wasnt as fast or as involving as the 2012 full 5 day event or the May 2013 3 day event.

Basically every Tour regular I spoke to was very disappointed with the 2013 Ecolight tour by comparison!

Walt, stop procrastinating and sign up. Not a singly person on here that I know of would argue when I say if you think youve had some fun at the track this is a whole different league. Driving some of those NI Tour stages even at 150-160kmph requires some courage - plenty of windy roads in the NI, guaranteed - keeping the pace up for stage after stage is the challenge.

P.S.You cant wait to find out if it will be run at interesting speeds. You dont even get the route map till just before the event and the speeds are set based on how many muppets play up during the event :-)

Bought the Turbo 3.6 in October 2001 so 13 years.

Micro pauses while I read endless docs are my downfall, exacerbated by the app alerts.
