Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?
Neil, I used to store cars at Kings in Glen Innes. Not cheap though.
Just come in from water blasting and painting to a missed call from Walter and a text from Tony via Peter. Indicative times appear to be 1.28.81 for Walter and 1.31.23 for Tony. No doubt the details will fill in during the evening!

Great day, not held up too often and enjoyed Tony's company. The 2Kcup crowd were great too. Chatted with the driver of a Levin I diced with who'd come down from Whangaparoa. Highlight was contesting turn one with a race prepped Mustang muscle car that somehow sneaked into our 'slow' run group. He won but it made for an interestingly fast and wide line.
The other big highlight was riding shotgun with Racing Ray for 5 or 6 laps. He was giving it everything and did a 1:24.3 in his own 2Kcup '93 Integra with me in it. Pushing just as hard earlier he'd done a 1:23.3 so he reckoned a 100kg weight penalty (flattering me a little) was worth a second at HD in these cars. He certainly grabs it by the scruff of its neck and goes for it. 15 inch rims, semi R-comps and race pads helped a bit vs BB but, man, he can drive. And generous with it.

Thanks for the update Walter.
BB has now done 30 sessions so probably in excess of 220 laps and still going strong. Based on your observations, the fronts are wearing twice as fast as the rears. 4 more sessions and both will need replacing. Assuming that NITT is the next run, I think we can run on the remaining pads and the Repco spares until the fronts arrive.
Did you notice how many tyres are flat spotted?

Sorry John, I put you slightly crook as I was away in a restaurant. Checking the AIM again, my best 3 laps today in the Integra were 128.88, 128.89, 128.97. Great fun, even if my auto allroad then felt a bit odd afterwards. BTW, couldn't reach you or Chris to check her tastes so she got a fill of 98 after. I saw the 2K cup FB post. They had 60 cars there. How the heck did they accommodate those in the slow group?
First world problems and all with 3 911s to keep in good nick, which seems to be a never ending round of smallish fixes, but BB just keeps on circulating. I need to find that elusive VTI-R for under 2k. That's essentially what Ray is driving, yes?
3 engine mounts. Left one is a shagged mount out of the Turbo 3.6, next is the same part ex Herman (being used as a replacement) and right is the new 993 part that will be going in the 996TT when I get time to fit it.
I drove Herman to pick up Rennline harness mounts first thing and tried Macca's test on the steering rack in a parking lot but no obvious leak. I will check the garage floor today. Fingers crossed as I don't need another repair to add to the list.

Seriously jealous of you riding shotgun with Ray. Spill the beans on lines etc. I wonder what BB can do with those Dunlop DZ II tyres?

Honda did a great job with this car. Almost impossible to upset and very forgiving. It was quite liberating for me to find that Ray, when charging hard, would overcook the odd corner. Less often than I do of course, but nice to see that that remains part of driving at the limit even at his level. Also good to see how he reacted - catch it, then grab the most aggressive line available to save or make time. Running wide in T2? Still floor it on exit but throw it over the kerb of T3. I drive that way too, but he amps it up another level or two.
When skiing steep stuff off-piste, I learned that the best approach to fear is to "attack the slope" ie get your weight forward and ski aggressively and decisively. Hard to do when fear is prodding you to hang back and over think every move, but a much better outcome. Like to think I do the same on track.
BB gets shaky around 140 kph or so but nowhere where it matters, so flat spots don't matter yet either.
Chris and others may have more nuggets to add on maxing out BB.

There was also a gymkhana running so maybe some of the 2Kcuppers were also in that. The early sessions were certainly the busiest. As someone mentioned, brave pills in turn 1 go a long way. Turn in on a tighter line than the Porsche one, carrying more speed than seems comfortable then get on the accelerator 15m or so before the apex and run the kerbs, before powering her out and collecting her on the exit apron. Exiting turn 2 use full accelerator, aggressive lines. Ray was also rotating his car under braking through the hairpin. T10, enter fast and maintain a fair slip angle all the way round. Ray confirmed that the Integra likes snappy shifts too. Honda did a great job with this car. Almost impossible to upset and very forgiving.
