Another successful NITT is over. Thanks to everyone that made it happen. It will be interesting to see what happens next year. Hopefully the older cars will still keep on coming. Will Lola back out there? Dave's hot rod? Another Steve creation? Herman will be there, albeit it I can see a gearbox refresh at this rate.

I think all the RSG cars came back intact, even Black Beauty. She managed 9 sessions with Doug at the wheel. There was a last session concern about a radiator leak but some Bars leak seemed to sort that out as she didn't leak after that. Right now she's parked at HD waiting for the big session on 4/10.

Amongst other things there was a lot of talk during the weekend about RSG 2k cup racing. Chris has definite ideas. Basically 2 fully prepared cars. Roll cages and competitive parts. We go out in cars that are safe and can win. The ballpark costs could be as high as $6,000 per car. That's $2,000 for the car, $1,500 for the cage, then new struts, rotors, pads, hoses, cam belts, water pump, competitive tyres, steering wheel, race seats. The idea is to do something similar to BB, but a smaller group as there are only so many races. Possibly a maximum of six at $2,500 per person, enough to cover the build and season one costs. For those not interested in that, there is still BB to go racing. So anyone that wasn't at the NITT who is interested in being part of a team, make your interest known.

Thanks Pete for all the behind the scenes NITT organising. You are a legend.

It was interesting going on the tour with BB... Thanks to the other 14 owners for being happy for me to do it. I stretched her legs as much as I could chasing all those 911s. Sorry chaps for the occasional hold ups in the centre field as I thrashed her through the twisties.... Good passing strategy practice, huh? I wasn't interested in timings but flicked on Harry's Lap Timer for one session at Manfield and got 1:35 vs my best time of 1:25 in the Boxster last year.

Brakes worked well, only slight fade on one of yesterday's sessions but she came right again after that.

The passenger window motor gave up the ghost today, but the driver's window still works. Goes down 1/3 every time and 3/3 every few tries :-)

Thanks John for following me home watching out for BB dumping her coolant... Thankfully the radiator held and she proved herself reliable, well she's lasted again until another day.

Glad to see all the RSG group coming through with only one breakdown, a minor issue with ChrisB's 996 turbo, bot not bad enough to prevent him driving it back to Pirongia. And no damage across the group which is important. Especially given the wet conditions at Taupo on Friday.

Feel gutted for TonyM and his 993. I know how much the car meant to him.

I spent much of the night time lying awake fired up with all the track work and camaraderie and Porsche talk, planning out all the mods I'd like to do to Lola while I await space in Steve's schedule to get the real work done. I'm lined up behind Dave's build so keep the pressure on Dave :-P

Was very impressed with Steve's fresh 964 RSR build. Watching him hunt and pass some GT3s was awesome. Inspiring stuff that. Given how new the build is it was very reliable. Dave loved Steve's 73RS and I think I heard ChrisB saying her preferred it over the 964 after trying both. Very throwable, light and nimble.

I agree Doug, I was a bit down on the weather but the last run at Taupo solved that and we got lucky on Saturday. Thanks to Steve and Dan for the loan of the RS. I really enjoyed that. Taupo was a good lesson on car set up. Dan made subtle changes to the sway bar settings and the car changed from massive oversteer to massive understeer, accentuated by the wet. The final set up was quite conservative apparently (soft) and this made it hook up like nothing else out of the corners. It was fast and it stuck. My T will be the same spec if just a bit softer so I was quite happy about how the RS went about its business. Old but still capable. But I have to admit that hopping out after a long road trip was quite nice too.
Very pleased to find in Pirongia that my gearbox had been rebuilt and the engine was on the stand part way through tear down, and the body will be in paint very soon.

The T is moving so fast now, I need to keep up.

Ball detent mechanism and acetal guide tubes for the head restraints to be worked out. Will make them glide up and down effortlessly and stay put via the detent. The mech I salvaged out of some Honda seats (not BB) didn't work out with the thin shell seat contour so have to start from scratch. The guides and short detent tube will be grafted and glassed into the seat backs with an appropriate load spreader plate.
