Diesel Cayenne and VW emission issue

Just received my settlement letter yesterday from VW, $4,239.62. This is half due to the prior owner filing a claim. I'm going to hold out as well. I like the Cayenne the way it is. Besides, I'm sure I'll have to pay taxes on the $ VW sends me.

my hypothesis is that those who drive in a more aggressive manner, such as track driving enthusiasts like myself, would be the ones to notice a difference.
One 10 minute test drive on a “fixed”CD at the dealership was enough for me to realize I wouldn’t be happy with it. The massive torque was still there, but even in sport mode, there was too much delay coming to power when releasing the brakes at the apex of a turn during aggressive cornering moves. This was in stark contrast to the Touareg TDI I previously owned, which came to power just fine in sport mode.
Obviously such driving isn’t necessarily what a CD is built for, but at the end of the day, it’s still a Porsche, so I decided to stay with my 2014 CGTS and it’s epic (albeit thirsty) V8.
Yep! I've been racing for many years!! The only thing I can say is Hoffman Porsche detailed my CD and when I got it back it looked brand new, shifted smoother and despite that feels almost dangerous with the amount of throttle delay, at times!!

I have seen this in my 2013 CD. It happened several times shortly after I got the fix - I was perturbed by it - and although the frequency of it is far and few between, it still happens occasionally, not enough to replicate to prove an issue to the dealer, I took it to them but they could not replicate. They did admit to hearing others complaining of the same issue.

My recently fixed CD is relearning my driving habits. My CD felt a bit soft in response right after the fix for the first hundred miles. It feels much better and more responsive today as I put on more miles. I also own a GL320 which I am driving as well. The CD remains a better driving and responsive vehicle with higher avg MPG.
People who are shopping for a diesel SUV and have never driven a pre fix CD will find the car very attractive still. It is the best performing car in its class. This is reflected in its current high resale value which is also propped up with extended warranty. We will just have to see in a year if my opinion still holds.

Need some help understanding the terms of the updated warranty for Cayenne Diesels. I've spoken to a few dealers with 2015 CD with CPO extended warranties that end in 2023 (about 8 years from the first in service date). However, they keep saying that the factory warranty is 4 years and the CPO is 2 years, which is only 6 years total. They can't seem to articulate how the warranty ends 8 years after the in-service date with only 6 years of warranty. Can someone here shed some light please?

I'm one to say that, once fully warmed up, there is no significant difference, pre- vs post-fix.
My 2014 was not noticeable after the fix, with 28,000 miles, give or take, pre-fix.
My 2015 I bought, which has been fixed, drives exactly the same as my 2014.
Several of the 2016's I test drove drove exactly the same as my fixed 2014 and 2015. I even took a pre-fixed 2016 for a ride, for a RL'er here who bought his car from a dealer local to me (he's out of NM).... and it drove the same as my fixed 2014 did.
That's not to say that those who are complaining are lying (tho I do believe some people are very attached to excuses to express outrage). My hunch is that, likely in most of these cases, something was not done correctly during the "fix" process.... or the "fix" is perhaps more sensitive to manufacturing tolerances. I have yet to drive a CD that behaves poorly like those here describe.

Absent that, assume the warranty is 6 years (4 regular/2 CPO) with unlimited miles. And if you're buying, make that your position when negotiating price, no matter what the dealer claims... unless they put it in writing for you!

I've been racing, in some form or another, since I was 12. I'm the current (and have been for the last 4 years) classroom instructor for my region's novice program.

What's not to like? I just picked up my '16 CD from Hoffman this morning and drove 50 miles home...I didn't really notice any difference in the performance. $11,000 from PCNA, $1500 from Bosch, a car-detail inside and out, full tank of diesel and AdBlue plus I genuinely enjoy owning and driving the car! I'm more than happy with PCNA and the service from Hoffman.

I posted my 2015 CD warranty coverages in post #5260. I'm the original owner.
Yesterday my dealer sent me an unsolicited trade in offer of $42K for my CD on a 2018 Cayenne. Have a nice weekend, I'm keeping my CD.

Just picked up an unpunched 2016
The cars here in Canada are just now being released for sale. I worked with my local dealer over a year ago picking this car and waiting for it to be release. I have a 2015 Audi A7 TDI with the same engine and I can't tell any difference in power or drivability. This is our second Cayenne, great to have the very last diesels to be sold. This one is very well equipped, I picked up some 20-inch wheels but will also keep an eye out for some used RS wheels, these might become my winter wheels.
Very happy

Has anyone noticed any changes in shifting and/or throttle mapping after a few months/miles?
My '15 seems to be getting very laggy in rolling shifts/accelerations; worst in 3rd gear, but noticeable in others. Examples: (1) Foot off the accelerator going downhill and make a left turn onto another street. Press the accelerator and it's a good 3-5 seconds before the power comes back on. No biggie there, really. (2) Rolling up to make a left turn across traffic. See an opening as you're slowing for a stop and go for it. Press the accelerator and when the power doesn't come on immediately, wonder if you've made a potentially fatal mistake. (3) Rolling up to a roundabout, slowing, checking for traffic. Tight roundabouts around here, so you're not whipping around them fast anyway, but you see enough of a gap and press the accelerator... and wait, wondering if you're going to make your merge safely. (4) Merging into traffic, starting from moderate speed... same thing. Have to anticipate the 3-5 second delay before the power comes on.
I'm going to schedule an appointment for it, and have them take a hard look at the transmission, but it seems that it's not just transmission, but throttle mapping, too. Sport mode seems to help, but not completely.
Haven't had much time in my wife's '14 to see if it's doing the same thing and will be checking that this week.

I've noticed the same on my '14 which got the fix 2 weeks ago. Not quite 3-5 seconds, but not the hooked up fast throttle response I've been used to.
