According to the following people:
- Sales guy at the dealer
- Finance manager at the dealer
- Dealer GM
- PCNA regional rep
- PCNA regional rep's manager (who is also a friend of mine)
The warranty is indeed 8 years, and I should expect a packet from Porsche in the next few weeks in the mail detailing the 8 year number. This is something "new" by Porsche for select vehicles, apparently on a VIN-by-VIN basis, who will get the CPO 2-year unlimited mile extension on top of the existing 6/100 already there. They manually submit this stuff to Porsche as the vehicle sells.
*All* of the service loaner 2015's at Porsche Exchange in Highland Park, IL have been warrantied to 8 years and unlimited miles from in-service date.
My buddy just bought a 2015 from Loeber Porsche (10-15 miles from Exchange) and the same was explained to him - 8 years unlimited miles. They also have a "punched" 2016 at Loeber, only 71 miles on it but it was punched in October of 2015. That one is also 8 years according to the people he spoke with.
The Exchange in Highland Park, IL has several left. Buddy bought his from Loeber Porsche a few miles away. He would have gone to the Exchange as well (where I bought mine) but his wife liked a color combo that Loeber had, that the Exchange didn't.

So the end result is that the un-punched and punched vehicles end up with similar warranties in both term and mileage. New un-punched in 12/17 goes to 12/23 and punched in 10/25 goes until 10/23. Good deal.

I bet this is mostly to help dealers move inventory they've been sitting on for 2+ years.

Frankly it was even good enough for me.... until they offered "unlimited"... and then they offered 8 years....

Yup, kinda bummed as well. I bought my '15 CD that had been a service loaner Jan 2nd. Not CPO'd, "just" the 6year/100k mile warranty. If I'd known getting another 2 years of warranty was possible, I would've pushed the dealer for it. I don't drive enough for the"unlimited" miles to make a difference for me, but the extra few years....

I think some of the earlier sales, the dealers just sold it with the existing 6/100. From the dealer's perspective: why bother going through the hassle of the CPO process if it's already got a 6/100 and that will be enough for most people?

I don't think that's necessary. It's pretty clear the settlement covers the 10 year drivetrain (basically) warranty. That shows on my vehicle's records, currently.
What Porsche does with CPO - tack on or overlay - is entirely up to them and has absolutely nothing to do with the settlement. Asking class counsel to help get Porsche to do something they're doing for marketing purposes is like asking them to change your oil.
