Default Quarantine Maint

Replaced plugs and coils (60K and they were original plugs and old style coils), As long as the mufflers were out for doing the coils/plugs, installed Fabspeed muffler delete pipes. Sent out seat belts to change belt color to red with black edge...

old coil on right

Washed, stripped, clay barred, paint corrected and then coated. Do it twice per year, when summer approaching to get ready for the nice weather and before winter to help protect it as it’s my year round car.

For those of you who daily your 997 you must spend a lot of time at the gas station? I find myself having to refill after 4 joy riding on the weekends.

Default Exhaust tinkering, in search of perfection.

Removed Top Gear X pipe and refitted the centre muffler. (997.2 C2S MT, Chrono, originaly without PSE)
My setup was Fabspeed 200 cell headers, Topgear X pipe, PSE side cans (not linked to any of the car's modules, just remote controlled by a fob.)
WIth the PSE open, the sound was nice and burbly around the suburbs, and highway cruising was plesant, but it got real harsh, real quick up over 4000 rpm, so much so, I was always reaching for the remote fob to shut the PSE flaps if I wanted to explore the upper power RPMs. The current sound, with PSE closed, in the higher RPM is quite nice, sonorous and urgent, but virtually silent around town at neighbourhood friendly pace..
When I built the exhaust up, the order of fittment was 1. PSE side cans, 2. Top Gear X pipe, 3. Fabspeed 200 cell headers. This occured over a few months, so I had the time to listen to and appreciate the sound changes. By far, the most dramatic character change was due to the Fabspeed headers with the 200 cell cats. So, in the interest of science, and a combination I have yet to try, I'm refitting the centre muffler, to see exactly how it sounds in conjunction with the PSE cans and the Fabspeed headers.
Test drive tomorrow!

Bunch of unexpected stuff:
new clutch, new Bilstein B6 rear shocks. Planned stuff: Fister sports mufflers, Billy Boat center muffler delete pipes. Today I installed Rennline
15mm rear and 7mm front spacers.
spacers made such a big difference!
I was afraid the 7mm fronts would be too small, but they are perfect. The 15mm spacers might be too much?

Regardless of whether the upgrades were planned or not - you're certainly making progress with the car.
I think the spacer sizes are the right ones - looks good.

Installed Fister mufflers and Sharkwerks centre bypass in my 997.2. Removing the rusted/seized bolts was a complete PITA, but everything was easy after that.

It sounds great but wasn’t as loud as I was expecting coming from my previous car which was a 128i with catless headers and BMW performance exhaust which was very loud. I think I might do headers/high flow cats next.

Default Project day!

What a day! Spent a few hours in the garage with Hope, learned a lot, crossed a lot off the list, and got to know her better than before.

I started by lifting her onto jack stands for the first time. Thanks to all who contributed their experience and advice to the DIY/Mod thread, it was a bit nerve-wracking but in the end she was up safely and securely. Moved to the top priority, changing her oil. 8.5 quarts later and with a magnetic drain plug in place I cut open and inspected the old filter, finding nothing of note.
While the oil was draining I used the interval to install LED bulbs in all interior fixtures as well as the frunk and engine bay. What a fantastic change! I love how something so simple updates the aesthetic of the interior.
Then the main event, 8mm front and 15mm rear wheel spacers. My intent was to achieve the look of lowering without the hassle of springs. I’m thrilled with the results and I think the wheels fill the arches better without compromising the front end on my driveway.
Oh, before I forget, having her up on the stands gave me a look at the true state of my right rear tire. Yikes! Goodbye Pirelli, Continental ExtremeContacts on order, installation next week. So glad I found this at home and not blasting down the road!
What a rewarding day, I’m so glad I can wrench on my Porsche but I can’t wait for the next drive.

Lifted, safely up on the stands

This is usually when you should open a beer

The business end, nice & clean

Rear spacer mounted up

Front spacer ready

Rear sits flush with arch
