buy one of these + connect directly to one of the switched fuses.
from there plug in a cig lighter charger plus usb cable - personally i have my cable fitted right in between the pcm side leather panel as i have my phone holder in the vent.
and then in the passanger foot well there is a cig lighter that is already fused. Cut the wires to it and 3 way splice now both cig lighters (factory + the one you added) to the power and negative of the harness- Tape the new female together with your favorite charger and cord and drill a hole in the top of the cubby.

Beautiful, Beautiful. Where in NJ are you? Who built the 4.0? A 4.0 may be in my future, as I've had my '05 C2 for 15 years and do not foresee letting it go, just something about it . You can PM me if you feel more comfortable

It is even easier than that. But this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and then in the passanger foot well there is a cig lighter that is already fused. RTL, that's brilliant. Thanks so much.
I am admittedly a neophyte when it comes to anything electrical...car, home, whatever.
Your suggestion and drawing(!) is truly appreciated.

Ordered. (but from Amazon because it's faster).
Thank you!!!

I got excited thinking we could shoot our 997.2's together after seeing the IL plates, but then I noticed you're on the East Coast you picked up a great car!
And I like to hear more about this: shimmed all the play out of the shifter with 0.005” brass shim stock, GT3 bushings.
Is this basically what Function First offers?
Same install?
Where did you get the shim stock and GT3 bushings?
save a few bucks and get the eBay cables, they are legit. Search Precision Works Shifter Cable 997/ the sellers will play ball, you can get them for $280ish with the wrench. Get the wrench. You will be happy you did.
I shimmed the shifter in 3 places: The pivot arm slider, the rod lever pivot, and between the new gt3 bushings and the stock housing (half circumference).
the pivot arm requires a small box to be built around it- the arm I made a washer for inside the stock housing- tap the pin out place the bushing and tap back in, and I cut some to shim each new bushing as they still had a little play between the plastic housing and tapped in with hammer and then put the circlip (not directly pictured- shim was between bushing and housing where red area is.)
this with cables gives you a solid shifter that feels exactly like how the stock one should of felt. You can hear how solid it is in the video
i have one there as well - but cant u see everything sticking out of there?
i was also under the impression that the footwell + the center console cig lighters are always switched on. i figure the fuse box ones only turns on when the car is on - alot if not all the cig phone chargers I've bought have an LED light , figured it would drain the battery (slowly) if left plugged in when the car is off.
