I tell my wife that my car hobby is cheaper than cocaine, but I recently did the math, and I think coke might be cheaper...but at least this hobby I can stop whenever I want to (I just don't want to, I swear I can stop anytime...) and I can sell the cars (but never would).

I like when the cars are stored for the winter so I can stop spending money and working on them! Now I just look at them!

We are a sick bunch indeed. I once had a coke addicted GF. She argued her addiction doesn't harm people and the planet as much as cars do. I couldn't disagree. I should've said how did she get the coke? Surely a car was involved somehow. What did the dealers do with their money? Bought expensive cars.... So let's just call it a draw.
On 500e forum some guy converted his 300te to a 500te complete with firewall and complete front end meanwhile his wife left him.
Another guy on this or 930 forum calculated he could have paid off his mortgage with the amount of mods to his car.
Decisions decisions...

Winter time is when I do all my work to my car. I'd much rather spend the nice weather months driving it.

Changed the brake fluid on the 930, E55 and both 996s yesterday. I did the M5 last year and the RS4 is due as well. I keep forgetting how great the w210E55 and E34M5 are. I should drive them more instead of looking at the C63. As they say ' a ******* a day keeps a side bitch away'.

All depends on which side of the hobby you are on….😜

Did the headlight restoration. Got this kit from the auto parts store a couple of months ago and have been procrastinating. Turned out pretty good. About 85 to 90% better. Outside of direct sunlight or bright lights. It looks like new. Pretty easy improvement. Here are some pictures.

The E55 W210 is a fantastic car. I bought one partly based on your recommendation @rufrob and I certainly don't regret it. I overpaid a bit more condition, but I'm very happy. Now I just need a bigger garage to store everything in...

You should have kept sanding and all those white spots would be gone. I used the Sylvania kit.

Yeah I know. Problem was the sandpaper was so crappy it was all used up before the white spots were gone. I may get the Sylvania kit and go over it again. Your headlights look amazing!

Pulled the power steering reservoir to fix an oil leak. Turned into pulling the pump to find the 10mm bolt for the rear that fell under the pump and of course on of the red grommet came out and promptly disappeared in the engine bay. Both grommets are not in good shape and now I suspect they were leaking and they are not available. Anyone came up with a brilliant workaround? Apart from tapping etc....

I saw someone in the FB group bought a regular Carrera one, and pulled all the fittings off and put them on his reservoir. I think he said it was around $100 for that reservoir.

Did an oil change, installed the tarret brake caliper studs and pulled the front driveshaft so the car can get dyno tuned

I had the Garrett turbos replaced with some rebuilt K24s, installed a stock muffler and new tires and shocks. Now I'm done with this can of worms I opened, just because I wanted a "quieter" ride. She runs fantastic, and I'm loving it! Am cleaning up everything to put them up for sale. Hopefully it will make a good "kit" for someone interested in more oomph!

Thanks,
Steve
