If I only had the money to burn.

I took my lady friend out to Steveston and on the way back, she was grabbing the door handle... Sort of yelling a bit too; I'm pretty sure it'll be better after the plugs and coils are done Monday...

Seeing your rs makes me think, I should buck up and get the turbos installed.

But NOT looking forward to the 300-800 mile graduated break-in process, until which I'm supposed to avoid the higher RPMS.

There are worse things in life...

Just looking at those wheels - I really like the design, they go very well with the lines of the car.

Despite moving the car every month over the last six months, it would appear that I have developed some flat spots on the tyres... Super irritating at 60mph, feels like an angry little animal is in the steering.

How long does this usually take to correct itself? 615s are on it now.

Cheers,

Outside temperature makes a difference. If it's warm outside they disappear quickly.

The best way to avoid flat spots is to fill the tires with air to the maximum, like 50 psi.

Interestingly, all corners lost 6psi over the last six months, and it was moved monthly - still cold and rainy here, suppose it is because the 615s are fairly soft.

At any rate, I am very much looking forward to my bonding process with the car. PBZ- congratulations! Your new GT4RS is sweet! How long was the wait, and how did you get an allocation?

Cheers,
I used to get really bad flat spots since I didn’t drive enough - my low tech solution was this $10 four pack of soft mats from Harbor Freight and they have worked awesome. I rarely have any issues any more and I don’t drive more than I used to. Might be an easy attempt before buying expensive tire cradles.

That's a good solution... It was just a little surprising that they did end up flat as I moved the car monthly.

I've done nothing to mine. Inspection died last August. I made a HUGE mistake and bought a 2013 Benz E550 Coupe in October and haven't looked at the turbo. The V8 Twin Turbo coupe is just SOOOO much fun to run daily and I don't mind depreciating it.

I can only imagine how flat my feet would be if I only stood up and moved once a month 😜

Prolly worse because of your colder climate and losing psi - maybe jack up the pressure to 50 like Carlo said.

I find my 615s flat spot super easily when parked even a week or so in the garage... Annoying as it is for a bit, i find it resolves super quickly. Like five minutes at sustained 50mph speed. I still love the tires....

I just suck it up for the 5-10 minutes it takes to resolve, easier than trying to over-inflate or cushion or lift or whatever. I get zero residual vibration after they warm up, pressure up, and round out.

I DO however heartily recommend those puzzle mats... I use them constantly int he garage as kneel pads or to get down on the ground to set the quickjack properly, oil changes, in the yard fixing sprinkler heads, etc.... And when they get grungy, hose them off or toss 'em they are so cheap. Costco also frequently carries a slightly thicker, higher quality pad at about the same price.

I agree... Really like the default wheel design. Made it pretty easy to decline the $16,000 optional magnesium wheels... Thats a lot of tires, fuel, and track time!

Anytime... even after break-in.

I put myself down on my local dealers "list" about three years ago, when I heard the first real confirmations from knowlegable sources that Porsche was likely going ahead with the much-rumored 4RS... That was back when RS versions and the like where merely pretty difficult to get, not the insanity that exists today. And while while many dealerships radically adjusted their Modus Operandi by abandoning lists and merely offering allocations to whomever would pony up the most cash or was willing to buy six other cars, my dealer has taken the long view of valuing and maintaining strong customer relationships. Good timing, good fortune, good dealership. But not necessarily replicable.

Got it out for a hundred and some miles today and a few photos... Hopefully the other 996 Turbo die-hards don't mind the OT content.

It's funny, this car reminds me much more of the 996 Turbo in driving feel than the 991 Turbo S. However power delivery wise, 996/991 are far more similar.

Congrats @pfbz and thanks for sharing your impressions.

This weekend was oil change for me w/ some Mobil 1 5w50 that I had in the stash from one of the NAPA sales shared on here a while back.
