Anybody wake up today and say...

"Damn I am glad I own a 996!"

Or

"Damn, the proliferation of after market solutions for the 996 is incredible. There isn't an issue that hasn't been solved for and fixed."

Or

"Man, this car handles like a Porsche should. This car is more fun to drive than anything else out on the market!"

Or

"Man, the 996 is aging beautifully. It looks better today than ever!"

Well, I do every day. If you don't have one, you are missing out.

None of them today. Woke up and wondered, why the F@#k it's so hot today... 115 degrees with 92% humidity, without a cloud in the sky. The Indian Ocean is a miserable place.

I wish more than anything that I could do the hoodrat stuff I do now back at home. I’m 2 months into a 6 month deployment.

Nothing says, “Haze, gray and underway.” like cruising the IO. That looks like the fantail of some American muscle. Do those big gas turbines have IMS issues? Any idea of whether they have new, flow-tested injectors? Does Diego Garcia have a PCA chapter?

Almost had an opportunity to Madagascar in 2020, would’ve sailed right past Mauritius.

Ha! Diego Garcia has two bars and a NEX! You’d never know what this thing does by looking at it. Been doing this job for 13yrs now and the last 5 on the maritime side of the house… first time through the Suez.

Narrow C2's $52K

https://firstflatsix.com/uncategoriz...6-carrera-6sp/

Oh wow that's pretty clean. Have you seen some of the prices on eBay Motors? Insanity.

Only "insane" in context of the past twenty years of Type 996 pricing; in context of the typical 911 depreciation-appreciation curve, type 996 prices remain absurdly low

Yep, and they shouldn't be. Wait until the 996 demand from Safari builds and resto-mods begins. Why pay top dollar for a 964 or 993 when you can get a lighter, better handling, more powerful, faster car with the 996? Not to mention more aftermarket solutions and for a cheaper all-in price. But i guess there are still a few folks that prefer to get way less for their money than more. Bet this won't be for long.

i agree with you 100 percent. I’m keeping my coupe, I’m actually putting a plenum on it next and probably thinking about searching for a bigger engine build. Also I’m not 100 percent certain I’m going to like the turbo as much, better be safe than sorry.

You have to be completely obsessed with the Mezger’s 962/959/GT1 racing provenance to overlook all the Turbo’s shortcomings against the much more athletic 996 Carrera

And I am
