Cool stats. Had no idea there are more GT3RSs than Turbo S coupes.

Was just running here to post this result. This is a very nice example, but not an early 1999 throttle cable car, and got a huge number relative to what we've been seeing without anything super premium option-wise (aerokit, 408 wheels, X51, etc.). This is an excellent data point for everyone that already has a 996, and a terrible one for those out in the market trying to get a good example for yesterday's price.

I'm honestly blown away. This would have been unthinkable even a year ago.

Any theories why the Y2K's are hot? "Next year up from '99?" Logic?

Agree. I do notice that some of the bidders are bidding on multiple auctions over multiple or same day(s); I think there is an emotional element here. They don't win on a few and the fever builds and builds. That mixed with the fact that you have classic car dealers and collectors on there and its a recipe for strong numbers.

That is the first BaT sale where something seems really, really odd. However, the buyer had been bidding on every 996 so I guess its possible someone recognized his itchy trigger finger and bid him up for the seller. But no reason to assume its illegitimate.

Big day for Fried Eggs everywhere.
