dont is the french word for "of which" and can also mean "including".. i was confused by it's usage in that table I had to look up what it meant

so 3393-1963=1430 regular c2s that year I believe

Only 3,426 996 turbo cabs in total. Going to add a manual one to my collection soon. Didn't realize so few were produced.

OK, so 1,400 non 40th anniversary in 2004 and zero in 2005. So call it 13k C2 coupes in the 996.2 gen.

Sure 40th were produced in 2004 but they aren't "regular" 320 hp coupes. They are a bit more special and therefore a class of their own.

One of these days I'll take the numbers and look at The BAT history of listings and sales. But quick back of the envelope estimates tells me that very few 996.2 Coupes (2002-03) have ever been put on the market. Tells you something.

The link made me even more bullish on the 996.2 Coupes. Not a lot of them produced. And very few for sale.

Curious.. but what other cars in history or even current cars have taken a similar trajectory to the 996? Currently maybe the Ferrari 348? Dino cars from the late 60s into 70s?

Here you go. A breakdown of howtoporsche.com production numbers. The first grid shows production by generation and models. The second grid shows the aggregate total by model. Gen-1 is production from 1997-2001. Gen-2 is production from 2002-2005.

You can see why there are so many 996.1 C2 Coupes, C2 Cabs and C4 Coupes for sale on BAT; as well as 996.2 C4S and C2 Cabs. There are a lot of them.

Not certain why there are so many 40th anniversary cars for sale. Folks should be holding on to them.

I missed this explanation. I didn't adjust it with the 40th anniversary numbers.
