Previous model years of Carrera appear to have a more flat curve. The specialty cars, particularly low mileage examples, have the highest return on value, but we already knew that.

Is it official? This thread hasn't been bumped for more than 72 hours.
Have prices stopped drifting up????
(/s cause people haven't been detecting my sarcasm lately)

Dont forget we have a lot going on in the capital markets. Fed meeting coming up with announcements, news has been very negative given the geopolitical front, all resulting in a period of indecision.
When we see a car that has relatively low miles and has been clearly taken care of and all the boxes are checked, prices are high. But the average run of the mill car's final price could go either way. Wouldn't be surprised if prices continued to move in odd ways for awhile.
But don't forget, every issue known to man that can possibly effect the 996 has been addressed with easily obtainable and executable solutions. IMSB, UAOS, UIDS, Nickies, etc. Costs are quantified and affordable.
Not to mention that Porsche Classic has just rolled out their retro-mod of the 996.1. Wouldn't be surprised when they roll out one for the 996.2. Awareness is growing on the attributes of the 996 and will continue to grow. It's only a matter of time until a shop pops up that specializes in 996 retro-mod like singer and others.
Yep, prices can weaken over the near-term, but they aren't making any more of these beauties over the long-term.

I love how he ended the article. "You'll never have to explain to your neighbor why you bought the ugliest Porsche since the 914." First of all, if you give a flying F about what your neighbor thinks you suck at life. Second of all, the 996 is a gorgeous car. The dude's wife is probably butt ugly but to him maybe she's Claudia Schiffer.

Oh man. I just remembered all those Porsches that sank in the ocean last week. I got choked up reading that. We need to be saving sinking Porsches not putting more blood and treasure into a corrupt country that we have no strategic interest in.

What do we think?

That's much different than the loss of human life, which—if you want something to choke up about—fortunately did not happen.

Let's not lose perspective here. All of those cars are just material items. I feel sorry for all of the people that were waiting for their cars to be delivered, but they are just things that can (and will) be replaced.

Yep, just pieces of metal, plastic and carbon that were insured, which never made it to the purchasers.
No memories created over the years either. Porsche will produce them again and then ship them again. Hopefully they ship the EV powered cars on a separate boat from ICE.

That brings up a good point. Perhaps another reason they want to raise the ship may be to figure out what caused the fire. If it turns out the fire was caused by a Li-I battery, there will be ramifications in the shipping and shipping insurance world, and perhaps beyond.
A related question is whether they have those batts on charge during the crossing. Probably not, as the crossing itself may be short in days, but the total time since last charge may be quite longer, and they do need to run to offload from the ship...they are called Ro-Ro ships, roll on -roll off.
