Hang in their bud. knowing you and what you are building, it will be worth it when when you are done. Question is what are you going to call it. If DE Jeeper's is GT3ish, what's yours after all the modifications?
I feel pretty good about where I'm at - I took time to get the garage, tools and all my misc hardware organized and as far as parts, I have almost everything I need or want to put the car back together. Prob some small stuff I'll run across as I get to it but that's the way these things go. All the big stuff is in hand and ready to go. Some of my local friends have offered to come and help if I need it which is nice and it will be cool to put the car together when it's not freezing in the garage. The garage situation was a biblical disaster, between the cold and the constant setbacks, it was about the last place I wanted to be for a while so it's really nice to have it back into working condition.

It was cool to be at the track with the guys a couple weeks ago and I'll be back on Thurs for any of the local guys headed down. I'm excited to see my buddy Chad run his new stang...

As far as a name - I don't know, I don't think I've ever named any of my cars. If any of you guys have anything you think fit's, I'd be open to hearing.

I thought I would put this here. Below is a video of a 991 Cup being driven by an accomplished driver lapping my home track, Thompson at an 1:11.4. He hits 148 MPH at the end of the straight. For reference, my fastest time around here is 1:19.3 and highest top speed is 128 MPH. My target for this season has been to get into the 1:16's.

Hope you guys enjoy the lap.

Yeah baby! Amazing what an extra 200 hp and aero can do. Good driver. Made it look easy.

It’s funny - the power is what you see right away - but the cornering speed (grip and skill) are the meat me thinks. He’s 5-10MPH faster than me, v min (slowest speed through corner) in some corners, critically turn 11 where he is carrying 10 more MPH through the corner onto the straight.

Since I still won’t hold a candle to him in HP, the goal is to maximize the grip and driver skill potential to try to carry closer to his corner speed.

It’s an admittedly tall task, especially because I want to stick to DOT tires but it’s fun to analyze this stuff to target ways that may be achievable to turn a faster time and what better bar than a modern Porsche factory race car with a really good driver behind the wheel.

No question Jason.

Ultimately, your new set-up will put you in a good place. It would be very difficult with our narrow body cars, even with 200 extra hp and full 996 cup aero to beat a 991 cup around the track with both drivers having the same skills.

The 991 cup is just wider with more advanced aero, suspension and a mid engine "like" configuration. Add in the power and they are amazing.

It would be pretty cool to drive one.

Haha. I’m OK with very difficult 😉 Is it a mildly crazy bar to set - maybe, I guess time will tell.

I think 996 Cups run in the 15s here, would be pretty cool to be knocking on the door with them by the end of the season.

Thats a LOT of power back in the 80’s for a 4-cyl!

Good progress - couple more bars to get fitted and it's on to fully tig welding it out, adding gussets and getting the tubing welded to the chassis in as many points as possible.

I'm finally excited as I can see the light at the end of the tubing tunnel and a path to getting the car back together developing.

Think I am done with the button plate although more doodads could always be added.

Got some parts in the other day from Pegasus - The Cartek FIA rain light you can see the switch mounted above, Anti submarine brackets for my fire bottle - had to get these to have the system FIA compliant - looking to save a few bucks here ended up costing me a few bucks, would have been less expensive to buy the kit WITH the brackets included - live and learn. Also got roll bar padding, SFI cert stuff for required areas and pool noodle for the optional and lastly some quick release sliders I want to make work for the rear 1/4 glass to allow for quick removal and reinstallation. Inspiration came from a recent Steph Papadakis Formula D Supra build where they did the same thing for easy nitrous bottle swaps, if I can make it work will be pretty slick. Oh Yeah... threw an OMP tow strap in, not sure what I'm going to do for tow hooks yet so have this to play with.

That is quite the cage. I don't think I could get in or out of there without a crane to help me !!
