April 16, Thompson Motor Speedway, bring the smoker. First event of the season.
Maybe a little too far away. Anyway my birthday is then and we already paid for a trip to port Aransas Texas, going to the beach, i spent 6 weeks at the beach last year, probably at least 3 this year. Also doing Vegas and New Orleans.
Busy day - after going through a falling out with the cage builder that was going to do the work originally - today I paid the deposit with my plan B option. The quality of the work (based on the work I have seen), and the price are both in excess of what I was getting with plan A, this version will be fully TIG welded but will carry over the design I had with the previous builder, based on the Custom Cages UK 997 FIA cage. This change in plans with regards to the fabricator became a requirement after Plan A could not hold any schedule and started to become an unacceptable amount of risk to getting the project done in any type of timeframe to facilitate my early season plans, which at this point are at a far higher risk than I would like.
He had the below in his shop - if you know, you know.
After the cage shop I finally got to meet @yaz996 in person while picking up the suspension stuff he was nice enough to give me (yeah, you read that right... just told me to take them). Yaz and his family are super cool and what was initially a parts pick up turned into quite a while of shoot the ****.. was awesome and Yaz... next time when I'm not running to a plan (poorly ), I'm taking you up on the refreshments !
Anyway, I am very grateful for the friends I have made here and have to give a big thanks to Yaz, for both the parts and the conversation.

What sanctioning body are you having your cage built to conform to Jason? What class will you be racing the car in?
I have to admit, I am amazed the tire clears the shock.... Just barely, I checked - she rolls
When's the release date for the new hardware? I assume you are not going through the season with a stock suspension, unless you are tired of passing everyone and need some additional challenge...

I’d like to make Thompson on APR 16… so that’s the target… I’d say I’m about 50/50 on that happening as of today.
In the meantime, a little taste of what’s replacing the ohlins.
