Mid-o does not dissapoint. I was there last weekend. I kinda felt like i had the miata of porsches as i was getting out run by everything. Its amazing what the nannies on a 450hp gt4 will correct.

No kidding. Here is the good news. If you can drive our 996s fast, you will be able to drive the GT4 like a world champion.
We can set up a RL road trip and piggyback all the PCA club race events at all the bucket list tracks. Laguna Seca, Sonoma, mid Ohio, road Atlanta. Road America, VIR, Cota, Daytona, Watkins Glen, Sebring. Gotta start saving money for tires and brakes. All we need is an enclosed trailer or two, a couple of grills, and we will have a little town within the track. X5 diesel would come in handy. Need a place to transport cigars and whiskey.
Ahhh... the stuff dreams are made of.

I managed to keep a yellow GT4 far back in my mirrors during a session, its all about the person behind the wheel... It was kind of a bummer cause when I saw them mid-straight as I was getting on the brakes for the first complex, I figured he'd catch me in no time and I'd get to follow their line and try to keep up.
Now - if that engine was in a 996 De Jeeper... think about the possibilities

Someday soon, when the kids are off the payroll, an engine rebuilt and enhancement is on the list. In the meantime, when I am on the track with newer "nanny" cars, I keep reminding myself that I know how to drive and balance a manual with only 320 HP without any "nannies" and they don't. 😁
Thompson for 3 sessions tomorrow - excited, I really like running the SCCA track nights there - super convenient, inexpensive and my friends will be there too !
Thompson is a 1.7M road course that utilizes a portion of a 5/8 mile oval.
I really like it, not nearly the technical detail of Palmer, its a pretty straight forward layout and the close proximity means I will run it a bunch this year - it will be a good benchmark of progress.
My best lap there previously was a 1:26, I expect to battle some traffic tomorrow so we'll see what we see with improving overall lap times, the #1 goal, as always - drive away from the track with an ear to ear grin.
So, close it off with a picture from Palmer - I love NB 996's !
Today was so much fun ! Most fun I've had at a track day yet... Got to hang with Jack (Jnelso) and Aaron (theprf) - those guys are so cool... and both can just so happen to wheel the **** out of 996's... our gang was out in force today !
The great : Hanging with those guys Knocked 2 seconds off previous best and was able to run consistently in the low 1:25's and a bunch of 1:24's when traffic allowed - new best of 1:24.5 Cool, actually downright cold meant temps and pressures kept well in check. I love Thompson !
The not so great: The coolant flasher thing Skip put on the UAOS setup works, even when an idiot (yours truly) installs it... I know this because thanks to Aaron and Jack reminding me...when it is flashing, check the UAOS reservoir, Which I did trackside and it was indeed full of oil. I did not worry much about it because the only other time I opened it was after the first track day I ran with the UAOS setup installed and like a drip came out. Since then, I have run A LOT of sessions without opening it, so I though, yeah, maybe built up over time.
Then I went out for the last session, and in 20 minutes it had filled enough to trigger the alarm again.
So... not a lot of good reasons for the car to be pushing oil. The level was good, the car was making JAM for power, fastest speeds during that session, not making any weird noises... So, I'm going to spend the night being happy and worry about it over the weekend when I go over the car.
I'm going to try to get a video up tonight - I hope all you guys watch it - my YT page could use the love I'll post it up when its done... some good footage today.
Nice maybe i can sneak up there for a june event and show u slow .
Oh, I know I'm slow... But you are more than welcome to come try to give me some perspective on, HOW slow... Open invite brother

Yeah, I hate that thing. But I will likely have to... I'll probably just let Skip tell me what to do. All I know, 121.5MPH at the end of the straight for 5/6 last laps of the day, were the fastest MPH I ran over the 3 sessions... So, power is there.
Thanks for the run at Thompson guys, it was a great time. Here's a snap from Trackaddict at the end of the straight with zbomb in front. My speedometer showed 132MPH so it must be reading a little fast, we're only going 127.

Cool pic Aaron, thanks for sharing. I got some good stuff for you, still working through video review, hopefully tonight.
Looking at that pic.... I got to get over and use the whole track... lollygagging in the middle of the road.
Still smiling from the day.... anyone reading this in the MA/CT/RI area interested in getting in track, come to Thompson for a SCCA track night event - you will not regret it.
