My apology don't want to step on anyones toes but, i don't want anything to do with the name Hybrid on a 911. I don't care what motor it is. I don't want to see that hybrid gauge going up and down while driving it, especially on a 911.
I just don't want the name Hybrid period.
I dropped on my
for my wife to allow me to get another 992. Sold my manual chalk 992 4S to get a 4GTS Manual which is scheduled to arrive soon, this will be my last 911. Actually she's getting it for my 50th birthday

There isn't a better feeling in the world (First of all we Talking about cars lol) then clicking Build my 911 and you see all the 911's and then you choose: Coupe, Manual, AWD and only two 911's pop up, the 4S and 4GTS for me that is very cool.

NA Turbo. Gotta love it. But hey, there's a Taycan Turbo so anything goes. Next they will have a RWD 4, a manual PDK, and a 7 gauge cluster where you can only see 3 of them. And a 911 has 4 "seats"? Really? I wouldn't call those silly things in the back seats. All I know is the more I read about new cars, the less I want one.

I regret selling my 991.1 GTS NA as it was an amazing driver and the NA sound was amazing. My next fun car purchase plan was to get a 991.2 GT3 but I was starting to re think about getting a 992.1 GTS instead until I started learning about the new 992.2 GTS will be coming out as NA/mild hybrid. Now I worry if I buy a used 992.1 GTS turbo the value will drop when the 992.2 GTS NA comes out and I will miss the NA sound? May have to rethink my next Porsche purchase plans now?

Goal of my next 911 purchase is a for fun Porsche club events car (My track days are done now however), Saturday cars and coffee and not a daily driver. But will take wife out to dinner now and then. My next Porsche most likely will be my last toy car purchase so really want to get it right and keep 5-10 years

I'm not sure that will be true. The 991.2 is quite a bit noisier than the 992.1 . In the newer car, Porsche adjusted the tone of PSE to eliminate the drone at steady cruise and the car itself is quieter on the inside. Is it Lexus quiet? Of course not, but it is better than the previous model. Hopefully as this car becomes less of a sports car (in some trims) Porsche will make it a better daily driver. There are plenty of models to cater to the purist sports car purchaser. The Carerra T, GTS, GT3 are all examples.

for noise, have you tried different tire pressures, tire brands or adding some insulation on the rear fender liners or doors? trading in a 911 for another for noise seems a awfully big expense. 911s have never been quiet. I drove a new 911 with Pirelli tires and couldn’t believe how much louder it was over Michelin on the same roads.
I get that some people are more sensitive to certain noise or frequencies than others at different speeds. maybe a tire change would work.

My last 911 was a 2017 991.2 . I got rid of it, in part because I couldn't hear myself think on the highway - most of the noise was coming from the tires. I didn't try changing tires and I wouldn't start pulling the interior of the car apart to install sound deading materials. If there was a specialty shop in town that could do that for me for $5,000 I'd have jumped on it. Aside from the tire roar and the PSE drone (corrected in the 992.1) the car was amazing. Maybe I should just do what some others have done while highway driving; don a pair of Apple air pods and set them to transparency which lets some noise in and blocks some. That way you can carry on a conversation, make a phone call, all without feeling isolated with earplugs in your ears. Believe it or not, subjecting your ears to 85db for 6 hours at a time damages your hearing.
Aston Martins used to be ugly and costed not that much higher than 911 I thought...
Well, they evolved a lot, DB12 coupe is priced slightly higher than a 911 Turbo S, the name sounds like it's got V12
, interior is quite futuristic, so if your budget is in the range...

The 992 exhaust valves on both the PSE and non-PSE cars close to varying levels between 1k-4k RPM to reduce drone but that's also why they are quieter than a lot of people expect. I installed an M-tune to keep the valves open all the time and the drone is only slightly bothersome at times in Sport, not Normal or Sports Plus.

They test at low RPM is "normal traffic" driving and the valves are closed
