My first car in high school, in 1988, was a 1974 911 - bought for $2,300 that I worked on weekends to make it good. Affordable to a high school kid as an every day car. Let me see something like that happen today. There's no reason today why a kid shouldn't be able to get a SC for $10-12k and make it his daily driver. They're just old cars - nothing more. Agree somewhat, but keep in mind your 74 911 in 1988 was a 14 year old car. Today that would be a 2010 997.2, which as an example I just sold my base 997.2 C2 with 90k+ miles for about $50k. That is out of reach for most high school kids. Is a 997.2 overpriced for what it is? Market says not.

The air-cooled cars are old enough to be seen as vintage and offer a driving experience unlike anything modern, hence the cult status. Social media has certainly inflated that image. But any kind of semi interesting 70s-80s cars are vintage status now and generally priced higher than the actual driving experience delivers. The potentially high school accessible vintage Porsche is a 944 these days, and even those are getting pricey for the good ones.

Apply. You're not delusional.
Car will have a lot more hp, but will also be heavier, still faster. There seem to be attempts to make the 911 more premium, 10% may be rather on the low end.

Lots of "remember-when" stories about the one that got away. When I was in High School I bought a 1960 356B Cabriolet with both soft tops and the hard top for $400. I rebuilt the engine and sold it for $1,1000 about a year later. Thought I made a great deal, at the time.

  • The PCM screen in the center console looks wider.
  • I see the binnacle for the dash is still there.
  • The ring around the rev counter is no longer there.
  • The piano gloss trim over the transmission tunnel is still there.
  • AND… There’s a manual !!!!

Anything else I’m missing?

No significant change other than the LCD instrument cluster which was expected.

This is a GT3 2.2 prototype given the storage netting on the drivers door. You do know that the PDK shift **** on a GT 992 can very much can resemble the look of a manual? It is very evident that it is in park

Pull straps to open the door would be new for a GT3, but being a prototype nothing is guaranteed to
make it to production.

Door handle looks like thin carbon fiber. Another thread had what looked like magnesium wheels as well. First for a gt3. I’m guessing there will be a weissach package for the updated gt3.

Judging from the grab handles and door pull strap, wouldn’t this be a 2.2 GT3RS?

another thread showed the exterior pics of this test mule. It was just a regular gt3 body and wing.
