I visited my local Porsche dealer about the 992 GT3 RS and they quoted me a $250k ADM! They said if I agreed I would be first on the list as no one has committed to that ADM yet, but they did say they had a few people very interested as they thought the asking wasn’t “unreasonable” lol. Since this is the case, I will most likely be sticking with my other dealer in the Bay Area whom I bought my 2011 and 2016 GT3 RS’ from and have had my name down for a couple of years as it would be really hard for the ADM to be any worse than $250k. I’d be willing to pay not a totally ridiculous ADM to get a car, but at $250k this dealer is seemingly on crack.

‘’hope you told them to get a real job that adds value vs you handing over a suitcase with 250k in it. 😬

yes, i got the gt3 marketing email too. odd, but unfortunately i don't think it has anything to do with improved supply/demand picture :-(

fwiw, i am on the 992.1 gt3 list at porsche walnut creek. they asked for a reasonable refundable $1000 deposit to get on the list (if i am to believe them, i am 7th on their list). they said we can discuss pricing if/when the time comes :-) i too am hoping for q3'23 delivery but i am not going to hold my breath that i will land one of these cars.

fyi, these 2 cars are still available for those who simply cannot wait :-) - https://finder.porsche.com/us/en-US/...&order=closest

So 500k for a RS? Sure why not. Makes perfect sense. I mean who wants a Pista with 200 hp more or a 765 coupe with almost 250hp more or a STO or a bunch of other cars. 500k for an RS is a great deal. Buy 2.

The logic of borrowing money to buy a house does not apply to car purchases. Time horizon, nature of the collateral asset, tax benefit are all different. I'd argue you will have more to lose cuz it's a leveraged buy for a depreciating asset (on top of paying interest to borrow).
I think this applies (somewhat) to GT cars and the like (Ferraris, Mclaren's, etc.). I think you hit the nail on the head with tax benefits honestly. If you DD one of these, the tax benefit could make the monthly "marginal" (relatively speaking). Also why I'd probably lease so that PFS takes the depreciation/crash risk and buy out at the end of lease. Might not make sense for everyone, but seemingly does so far for me.

This dealer is not on crack. He is playing a deliberate game of reverse auction and price anchoring. Six months later when he calls you his ADM is now lowered to only 125K, you will be so tearful and thank him for the bargain.

Maybe I'm hopelessly optimistic, but I think lots of people are on several lists, so the entire "list game" is a bit of a fallacy. If you're on 10 lists and get an allocation for one, that frees up 9 spots. My SA flat out told me to be patient, the list will dwindle. I have no reason to think he'd lie. I asked about the GT3RS and he basically said our list is too long already. Don't bother. I'll gladly wait and pray that this comes into fruition. Best case, I'll pick up at Zuffenhausen ---> Luzern ---> Lago di Como ---> Portofino ---> Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and drop the car off for shipping in Nice. Worst case I'll rent one for a week for like $3500. But, it the stars align and we both get allocations I'll see you on the other side. :-)

sure pretty much whatever based on your risk profile. Either way from what I see ADM isn’t stopping unless porsche somehow starts increasing production of their GT/RS cars and it’s not like we all don’t know these last pure ICE cars are going to be the last of their kind. Drive them while you can

lawfully not paying taxes unnecessarily. If you’re selling appreciated assets to generate cash to avoid borrowing, you’re probably not very good at math.

everybody’s circumstance is different, but the “only cash” crowd is largely people who just aren’t wealthy enough to be concerned about significant tax liabilities.

yep, my SA said pretty much the same thing - just be patient and the lists will dwindle. hoping he is right.

Hmmm, most of the “Wealthy” I know keep cash to avoid selling when they don’t want to. Or for a toy. They don’t have to sell anything.
