Thanks, but no thanks.

I have a 2014 C2S. After reading about this here and online I am worried that the fix will be the dealer "flashing" the computer and detuning the engine for less HP. I bought the car as a CPO in Oct 2021. I guess just before the stop sale.

I feel like the Sport+ button should be a $ sign instead.

For now I will keep my 991 but I think this is the final nail is the coffin after 36 years of Porsche ownership. This company lost its way under Wiedeking and never recovered IMHO.

A little dramatic.. Just picked up a 14 Turbo S SC, this is the least of my worries.. It'll be a software upgrade at worst.. Just enjoy the ride!!

Maybe, but the Cayenne diesel split it’s time 50/50 between me and the dealer who had the engine out twice in a year. And let’s not talk about those emission issues. My Cayenne S spend copious time at the dealer for various issues including a transfer case. My 991 just had $5000 dollars worth of door panels replaced. Had trouble selling my Boxster because of the IMS issues. My ‘08 Cayenne was a lemon. Those are my own issues. Coolant line issues, porous block issues. Variocam bolt issues, coolant pump issues, center bearing issues, rod bolt issues in the 991 GT3.

It’s not like these are rare problems. It shows a worship to the bottom line and not making the best cars. All my air cooled cars wore like iron.

I might enjoy the ride more if a little less of it was spent to and from the dealer for defects for something ridiculous like door panels on a $120,000 car that only last a few years. And now I get to put up with them neutering my 911 like they did my Cayenne?

Just saw this https://www.yahoo.com/news/porsche-o...171921863.html. Looks like the stop sale has gone mainstream. My question is will this affect the performance of the cars with the "fix" and if so, will owners be compensated? Though probably only 5-10% of the owners actually track their cars.

I couldn't even finish reading this, with the other BS on that page...

This will probably in the short term enhance the service business of a lot of non dealers. Owner's will avoid the dealer trip for fear of a "flash". LOL

The Yahoo News item is basically the same story as Business Insider's article, linked in post #780 above. Nothing new.

I have a 2016 C2S and I'm worried about the exact same thing regarding "flashing" and detuning.

So you bought the car based solely on it's Sport Chrono performance, and a flash to make SC EPA compliant will be the end of the world.. Me thinks you guys worry too much..

Simple answer is yes. My wallet limits the amount of HP I have and don’t make a correlation to things on my body that may be shrinking and no I don’t need to compensate. Joking aside, what ever they do probably will not be distinguishable unless on the track but again one pays a big premium for the SC package and I would prefer that the performance not be compromised.

I called my local dealer in Chicago's northern suburbs to inquire about my car's (2015 4S w/SC) inclusion in the campaign. The service advisor said it was not included based on my VIN, but added he really didn't know much about the campaign.

After skimming this thread, I'm surprised to read that so many had the similar experience of their dealers "not knowing much about it". I find this hard to believe. Dealers know that most P-car owners are students of the brand, that they take care of their cars and have paid for and demand a high level of service. More importantly, this campaign must be hurting THEM.

Thoughts?
