Hmmm... Hadn't thought of it that way!

Wait... so affected cars can't even be worked on for unrelated issues, and parts are not being made available?

I think what that means is that there are no "parts" yet available to fix the sport chrono car issue, even if that "part" is just a software update. Simply Porsche's way of identifying this particular car is affected and is in line to receive the repair when it becomes available.

Default 20WLN1

20WLN1 is just a TSB, and typically means that it’s optional for the dealer to act. They even have one as late as Dec 2020 for squeaky brakes 😆

For what it's worth, I just had my annual service done at Porsche Tampa and did ask about the stop sale campaign. The answer was yes there is a stop sale campaign but did not apply to my vin number. Mine is a 16 GTS, 7mt, sport chrono.

Strange. So apparently only PDK are involved.

No, the Stop Sale order applies to certain PDK and MT cars too, but only if they are in a Porsche dealer's inventory.

If you own or lease the car, it is not in a dealer's inventory.

Depending on how its investigation turns out, Porsche may or may not need to address customers cars by issuing a service bulletin, a service campaign, or even a recall (unlikely, since recalls usually are safety-related).

Meanwhile, Daimler AG agrees to penalties and corrective measures for diesel cars and trucks by the Feds and California:

"WASHINGTON — Automaker Daimler AG and subsidiary Mercedes-Benz USA have agreed to pay $1.5 billion to the U.S. government and California state regulators to resolve emissions cheating allegations, officials said Sept. 14.

The U.S. Department of Justice, Environmental Protection Agency and the California attorney general’s office say Daimler violated environmental laws by using so-called “defeat device software” to circumvent emissions testing and sold about 250,000 cars and vans in the U.S. with diesel engines that didn’t comply with state and federal laws.

The settlement, which includes civil penalties, will also require Daimler to fix the vehicles, officials said."

That's what's strange is why one 2016 pdk gts sc is affected and another 2016 pdk gts sc is not.

Mine is not in dealer's inventory and is affected and his is not in dealer's inventory and is not affected, apparently. My dealer told me that if they were to buy mine they could not sell it.

I think you may be confused by what "affected" means here. His car is not affected by the stop sale order, and your car is also not affected by the stop sale order, because neither is in a dealer's inventory. Your car is only potentially affected. It won't be actually affected until after you sell it or trade it to a Porsche dealer. Both cars meet the criteria in the stop sale order of cars that would be affected if they were in a Porsche dealer's inventory.

The only "affected" vehicles by the "Stop Sale" are vehicles in a dealers inventory. Naturally a private owned Porsche is not affected by a Porsche "Stop Sale" order.......

If the dealer had your car, it would be affected.

Keep in mind, everything stated here is nothing more than speculation.
