This is good to hear. I was dreading getting this update performed. I just moved to San Diego county last Sunday. Matter of fact, I'm flying back to Ohio as I type this to arrange transport for our 911 and Macan.

Friends don't let friends use auto transport brokers.

That is great news. Fingers crossed nothing changes between now and when my car is due for re-registration in October. My plan was to register the car in Montana if the CA DMV required the "fix." Yes, the hassle of doing so is worth it to me in order to keep the car the way Porsche intended it when it was designed.

Default Question about stop sale in California

Question: I have a 2013 991.1 S with sport chrono option. This car is on the list for software re-flash on ECU and TCU. I am the second owner of the car.
I live in California. Will the DMV require this upgrade to renew my registration?

I have the almost exact situation except I have a 2012.5. I moved to SoCal in Feb and had my car registered from out of state a few months later.

I did NOT need the upgrade to get the car smogged/registered. It never came up. You'll be fine.

+1

I did recently have the re-flash as I brought my 13 C2S
to the dealer for something else. If anything, it sounds meaner and is more responsive after the software update

I was on the fence about the update, but I'm not hearing much of any negative feedback on it. I won't make a special trip to the dealer just to get it done, but if I have any other reason to go, I'll likely have it done. Thanks for the feedback.

I have an FVD tune on my '14 Boxster S Sport Chrono. I presume that if I let Porsche retune it, I would lose my FVD tune, or at least have to reload it. In fact, I'd probably need to reload the factory tune first.

I am going to have to decide soon as I am due for a service. for my 12.5 C2S.

So far no one has documented any performance changes. All I can find from those who post about the effects is just that the PDK in the auto mode behaves as it does in 991.2 S PDK cars.

When I smogged mine several months ago, the tech just pointed out on the print out that there was a recall that was optional. It passed smog without any issues.

What is this gasoline class action settlement? Did anyone sign up for this? Received notification in the mail so my guess is it's legit.

Has anyone successfully rolled back this DMC TCU/ECU emission update to default settings? My dealership recently performed this update without my consent or knowledge. Any help would be greatly appreciated it.

Very legit. I had already registered and received confirmation from the legal firm, and today I received an email reminder direct from Porsche.

I've not seen anyone with the update to a PDK and Sport+ commenting on how it effected performance on the track. I successfully declined the update. As I understand it Sport+ will now upshift if you don't maintain full throttle. More like Sport. What performance changes have you noticed?

I had a 2015 Cayman S(w/ PDK) that I was in the same boat as you @Kienetic. I was on the phone with Dealer service Mgr, Owner, and Porsche North America. Porsche's position is that they will not go against California's emission standards for a single customer, meaning Cal sales are worth more than you being pissed off. So the Dealer wanted to help, they spent 3 hrs rolling back one of their computers to flash the ECU on to an older firmware. The computer, when connected to Porsche North Amer or Germany (i forget which) forces them to update to current firmware then "see's" my ECU and won't roll it back. So Dealer offered to purchase a used ECU from Auto Dismantlers in LA and flash it to my VIN.... But to change the ECU to my VIN it forces the firmware update onto my ECU because it was already done and is registered against my VIN.

So from a performance standpoint, I had the Cayman at ButtonWillow 3 days after the ECU was flashed with the emissions change. My laps times weren't off enough to notice and in Sport+ wot the shifts were right at or near the redline. I can run the Cayman in-stock form with RT660's only mod, at 2:06-08 all day long.
I have heard it shifts 200rpm lower now, I couldn't watch close enough to tell. The BIGGEST difference is when in Sport + and driving on the street, it won't get to almost redline and shift. The best way to describe it is that it just raises the Sport+ rpm's much like when going from normal to Sport. So for me, Track and Autocross, the Cayman functioned the same in Sport +. I never drove in Sport+ on the street as it was just not fun shifting at that high of an rpm.

So long story short you are stuck.
