I am not sure I follow what you're saying. They can't sell you the car for 4-6 months but you can buy it anyway?

My apologies. That was very poorly worded. I cannot purchase it until the sports chrono issue is resolved, which may take 4-6 months (according to Dallas dealer).

I find it hard to believe that Porsche dealers will be forced to hold this many cars for 6 months so I'm holding out on the car (they are keeping my deposit) for the time being.

Considering the circumstances I would suggest taking back the deposit and investing the money. There will be plenty more options once the no Sale ends

My Porsche salesman explained that they can only "pre-sell" cars that are affected.

Not sure exactly how they will be compensated. He just said that they can offer FMV and hold the car in inventory and be compensated by PCNA.

Just US / Canada cars, or this issue its also in Europe?

The sport chrono pack was a must have on my list when searched for my car, I wouldn't buy a 991 without it.

That’s what my dealer stated as well. Not that great of a deal for me considering I purchased it in June.

Presumably means PCNA will pay the carrying costs for the dealer. What a mess all around.

I'd love to see that math.

Will they keep paying them after the neutering prolongs their stay on the lot?

They currently have a DME/TPU software update for the 971 and offer the owners compensation in the form of a $500 check or $750 dealer credit. The reason for the compensation was that the update lowered the gas mileage slightly. The software update was mandated by something Federal, and required in California by CARB before the next registration renewal. After my 971 update last month, I observe slightly improved drivability and normal PDK gear changes at slightly higher RPMs. Don't assume the software change will lower performance. Don't know if it matters but my 971 does have sports chrono.

I don't know if the 971 software update was related to sports chrono or not and there isn't a stop sale in place, however, Porsche has already released a software update for 2017-18 971 so there would be no need to stop sales. My point was the upcoming software change does not necessarily mean a performance degradation.

I must say I get a bit of a chuckle out of referencing FMV and a car dealer, with the question being does the stop sale order affect the FMV?
Seems on a supply vs demand basis the FMV moved upwards for a private or non-dealer sale, but maybe downward with a Porsche dealer?
Just wild speculation on my part but when I was looking at a 991.2 GT3 when they first came out the ADM was a reflection of “FMV”.

Funny thing my dealer actually seems eager to get my stop sale vehicle now 🤷🏼‍♂️ There must be some good incentive.

For what it's worth, a 991.1 manual w/ sport chrono at a local dealer just sold. So the stop sale isn't a blanket application based on the option, confirming what others were saying in this thread. Still on the lookout for one myself (C2S/C4S) . . .
