Burning Brakes
Pics kind of suck, but the interior looks minty.

I'm about two hours away from that town. This car is in Stan's area I think.

I just sent the guy a facebook message. I am about two hours away. The price is right on that car even with deferred maint. Not many pictures and you can see the bolster wear on the driver's side. No pics of the dash, so can expect the worst on that. Seller states "needs engine work". Def. not an 87. But for that price, its worth looking at.

Passing on this. Too much of a project for what I am looking for. Story: Second owner had it 10 yrs. Purchased from the original RI surgeon after it was sitting a number of years. This is the 2nd owners DD and it just wasn't in sale appearance. I saw it at night, so it was difficult. Pod looked good, but the dash has shrinkage issues. Exterior was dirty but you could tell of the road rash. The rear PU looked buckled a bit on the passenger side, but again the car is black and it was at night. The red interior is all there. drivers seat bolster torn. carpets were push around and not flat. I am sure there are some records. 126K I believe was on the odo. The original engine suffered from a timing belt jump. Replacement was reportedly a 60K 928 Intl about 4K or so ago. PM if you have any questions.
From Oct 2017 regarding the Black/can can combo

This is one has a lot of needs. Will be interesting to see what the price in the end might be.

Red 87 5 speed on BaT
Yes it does have needs, but my guess is it should do pretty well. In the least, it will be fun to watch it and compare it to the black 84 5 speed that did not sell yesterday. This 87 has an active, engaged and from what I can see - honest and open seller, while the 84, a decidedly better condition car, had an unengaged sleaze ball seller. There is a BaT premium for having a good seller (ask Dennis - he'll confirm).

Thanks, that is my car that is now featured on BaT.
Agreed, its needs some TLC and love which I started to give it, but I recently bought Ken's 88 S4 (as he was emigrating back to Scotland) and I am currently focused on reviving that car, so my '87 (which is the nicer of the two is being sold as I have run out of garage space). This '87 has really good bones (zero rust, never been hit and recent respray) and mechanically very strong through all gears, I really think it will make a great car for an owner who can turn wrenches and enjoys working on their car. I bought this '87 with the intention to make it really nice, so hope that the next owner can see that through.
Thank-you, on that black on black car I tried to coax the seller while being positive on my comments to rejoin the conversation and help the car but to no avail. It reached $13k which is a good number considering the seller was so detached and a bit defensive.

I will be watching with interest. Maybe at a weak moment I'll bid.............

slownrusty,
Good luck with the sale! Glad to hear that Rob Roy's (Ken) car went to another Rennlister.
I'm not a buyer (even though your proximity makes it tempting), but I think the BAT buyers might question why you only put 100 miles on the car. That's barely a shakedown!
Also, while your two cars may look different next to each other, I'm pretty sure that by 1987 Indischrot and Guards Red are the same color:

It's not perfect. AC works, but leaks at the compressor and I've determined a slight squeak is a compressor bearing(s). Occasionally the ABS light will come on over rough pavement. Front bumper cover has road rash. Has RMB installed and original muffler is included. Almost all of the work I've done on the car is documented in threads here on Rennlist. It has just under 95,000 miles. The original manhole cover wheels are also included.

Three Wheelin'
Sorry to see you sell, but life and such can sometimes change. Folks, Captain Slow is a stand up guy and wealth of knowledge. His car is one I've seen, and he presents it accurately, if not humbly. GLWTS.
