did the '87 S4 have different gearing than the '91 GT? i can't imagine it was significantly lighter.

But somehow '78' and 'white' makes me wonder nowadays...but not enough to call for the VIN. Probably a good novelty parts cars for some folks chasing the early unicorns.

to be honest, $3500 (or less) for what looks like a possibly decent 5-speed doesn't seem all that bad. you'd have to look it over firsthand, but it could be worth that price. having had a euro '78 in white, i have a definite soft spot for it.

From my personal experience the table is exactly that... Steaming doggy do do...

My GT's have always been the fastest of the bunch. And I've owned or driven everything but a Club Sport...

Thx Dave...

Some obvious issues:
According to the table the 928 got 1.4 seconds slower from ‘77 to ‘82 and a ‘93 is only .1 seconds faster than a ‘91 S4 (auto.)

I’m sure the Porsche tech spec books have very different numbers (they are not ‘at hand’ right now.)

Mike Musto has put his sweet Prussian Blue '86 5-Speed on BaT. I'm sad to see him selling it as he has been a great proponent of the 928. Hopefully we see him back in other one someday soon.

This one is sad but it is a CHEAP 78

Whats more interesting is the one sitting nose to nose with it which is not listed yet on Copart

do you know this car firsthand? it sounds like you might.
thoughts on the car in general? it appears to be brought up to mainly 86.5 specs and owned by a quality owner.
any other knowledge about the car?

I spoke to Mike when he first bought the car, his first 928. I have not seen it person though a bunch of the California guys on RL have and can attest to it's condition. If you don't know, Mike is an automotive journalist. He has written a few articles on this car and had it out at a lot of events. Mike is a down to earth honest dude foremost and an avid car guy on top of that. He always wanted a 928 and when he got this one he spent a considerable sum making it as nice as he could.

A little bit of love from Gear Patrol for the 928. Article links to a 1986 automatic on eBay.

I have seen Mike’s car at a few NorCal events. It’s in great condition and he has put a lot of money into it particularly with the 86.5 upgraded suspension and brakes. I can’t believe he is selling it!
