Default Regularity Time trial handicap ideas

Hi Paul. How's it looking for the 15th? Am already down for the Sprints and was about to make payment when I thought I should check further into the Regularity time trials too.

I hate driving too far under the limit on track but I just saw in Spiel that the Sprints are part of a 6 event PCNZ Speed Series (2 Sprint days, 2 Regularity trials (same days) and 2 tarmac Gymkhanas) so am reconsidering the Regularities since I love Sprints and Gymkhanas. Before seeing that the series is car based rather than driver based, I'd thought about asking if I could throw some RBF600 in the Allroad and run that in the Regularities. No chance I presume?

Am less concerned about regular times than just enjoying the drive as I had sworn off Regularities unless I had a slower car so I still could enjoy the sensation of pushing the vehicle a bit. One of my strangest nice laps of HD was 1:40ish - on a CanAm Spyder, with opposite lock in the corners before the aggressive stability control kept cutting power.

Weird machines but still great fun the first time you ride them, though they really pump your arms out in long fast sweepers.

Other strategies that occurred to me for the Turbo were perhaps getting a Valet mode flash to run one third the horsepower or so, or fitting super skinny tyres (the most fun but time wouldn't allow tyre changes between the Regs and the Sprints). I suspect that putting 75 kgs high on the Turbo's roofrack might be frowned upon too? Anyone else have some ideas? Try to lock it in third?

Most other ways of killing time are obviously too antisocial so super dark glasses, running inverted lines, or stop-starting are out.

PcarPlayer - welcome aboard and enjoy bonding with your car!

John - that heart shaped tailpipe shot above would make for an interesting burn mark if someone got their ankle near it!

I imagine so as the Classic Time trials drivers were told they could join in.

They're common as muck now.

Bummer. They're not quite my cup of tea when driving a faster car but they do provide a useful on-ramp to competitive track driving. I figured the RTs were included in the Speed Series to help entice some regular RTers up the ladder.

For another left field idea, what are the odds the Meremere Autolite dragway could make itself available for a couple of runs after the Sprints?

I know our cars aren't dragsters but I wouldn't mind doing a couple of runs at least once in its life just to satisfy my curiosity on what the figures would be.

I know they're open on Wed and Fri nights to the public but we'd be just up the road anyway on Saturday, with safety gear to hand and cars fettled and ready...

POSTNOTE: Sorry Paul, just cross-posted. Let me know if there's anything I could do to help out.

Anne Boyce did mine in Papakura. Won't post her details directly but she is on the MSNZ examiner list - link to that list is near the bottom of this page:
