Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?

The one 997 model excluding GT3 I believe will not depreciate as fast as the others and will perhaps remain very sought after is the GTS. That car I belive one day will be a future classic and perhaps the only non GT3 997 that will achieve that. Very few sold new in NZ and even less in manual so if you ever get the chance to buy one of these at a fair price very much suggest it will be a good investment...
My fav is the Sport Classic. Halved in value too (I just need them to halve again), very cool looking cars. I love the internal and external spec......
I wonder who the RS 4.0 sold to??

Sorry. I should have said "only mainstream 997 non GT3 model". The SportsClassic & Speedster will out perform the GT3 and GT3 naturely being extremely limited production models. I dont see the SportClassic falling below 200K in NZ as international values will support it long term and eventually I see that car appreciating again.

Yes agreed with Peter too.
We all sing from the same book as through the school of pcar life experiences, we have all come to the same conclusion.
The first thing you need to ask yourself is how the car will be used:
1) Daily
2) Track
3) Sunday Driver
As there are different answers. The 997 is the best answer for all 3, the 993 the best (maybe) for a Sunday driver.
You can't get hung up on depreciation/resale otherwise you will never use the car and we are the wrong crowd to hang out with (you need to introduce yourself to the garage queen/concourse boys) Just buy the best car you can, that comes with an inch thick of the previous owners bills.
It also has to be an emotional thing. I could have purchased a 997, but the 993 was an itch that needed scratching. I will move to anther itch some day, but could still easily own a 997. In Pete's case he went the Cayman S route, and Chris the 997 route. No right or wrong answer - just what makes you happy.

I'm pretty sentimental about the 993's. The first Porsche I drove was a friends RS. The 997 though is starting to sound more and more of an option.
Arranging some seat time in the cars in my budget I think will ultimately make the decision and finding the right car. Thanks again guys.
Hi All..
Firmed up my thinking and am going to sell track wheels etc..

Out of interest is there anything like this UK site available in NZ for seeing how many cars are in the country? http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/

The prices in the UK seems to be quite varied from here, last one I saw in NZ was over $200k for a PDK, yet as you say, they seem to be available for 60k GBP. I'm hoping they come down a bit more than that

For those of you in the Porsche Club, just a heads up that the Driver Training day application form should be coming out very shortly. If you don't receive within the week - please contact me. Peter, John, Doug et. al. - I was going to get Jen to have a go this year, you should approach 'Domestic Mgmt' and see if they want to have a go too.
How does Easter work for those of you with kids?

Doug. Jo and I are interested in joining (GT3) but cant make the dates work as Easter next year is 03 April and our travel plans currently have us back end of April. The soonest we could make it work is Anzac on 25 April if a public holiday is somehow necessary to make it work. If not then mid April for 2 weeks is great - we will need to change our flights out of Chile to accommodate this so will need to bake it in before NITT if possible. I understand if this cant be made to work, in that case we will plan our own tour ion Nov 2015 perhaps. I should think for those with kids holidays are harder than non holidays but not qualified to comment!
The format your proposed seems like a great starting point. It would be really good to have 1 day at a SI race track. If we had it totally to ourselves plus guests we could get the ladies out there too, have a picnic and make a day of it. As much as it would be nice to have Highlands I feel this is not possible. Cost prohibitive and they arent keen on private groups from Tonys feedback. I would suggest we look to hire Levels or Teretonga for a day as I believe this could be achieved at very reasonable cost. If we had a group of 6 (+ partners) on this tour and could rustle up 4-6 more locals I think this would only be $250 per head for the day and Im happy to undertake the research if a date is possible during the proposed tour. I for one would only take helmet and overalls and use fast road tyres as I cant be bothered with the additional equipment. It would be more of a "relaxed day at the track" where we can experiment with a few things, swap cars, get some creative footage and generally soak it up instead of ***** to the wall.....
