Hey Macca - any chance of using the GT3 for the Parade Laps - give the club a chance to see a 991 GT3 in the flesh??

Hi mate. Unfortunately 99% unlikely. Richard and I aren't expecting to have our engines installed until around the 20th (although we are awaiting confirmation next week of what dates they are being air freighted to NZ so that date could easily move out)...

It was actually a good idea as I doubt anyone other than those who have wandered downstairs at CCS have seen a 991 GT3 in the flesh. I will know more by the end of next week as to the timing....

More like 90K for the car: http://www.toyota.co.nz/our-range/86...cations/tr-86/

Good for 1:14.4s around HD and 1:15.8s around Puke on the Michelin slicks, apparently. Makes a 944S2 look like a bargain.

Brand new 964 windscreen for $159 - bargain. Logistics of getting it back to Auckland in one piece from Dunedin - not so much fun. Must engage brain before hitting Trademe.

Mmm. Maybe the GT86 gent I was talking to at Ruapuna picked one up second hand or perhaps I got the wrong end of the stick.

Regardless - if you ask me that's a bargain for a ready to roll ground up built brand new track car. I assume there is a series. Even better. Personally Id probably opt to pay more for a dedicated Cayman track car if there was a dedicated series for them.

You have to remember we are comparing a 25 year old 944 with a brand new factory designed track special. I think running costs would definitely be favourable and reliability should be very good for the first few years.

For a car that takes 7.6s to go from 0-100 kmph and makes 200 bhp 1.14.8s at HD isnt shappy. Im not sure any stock class C 944s are doing much better than 1.16.5s with the A class cars being around the same as the GT86 in the mid .14s.

At HD I saw the race cars advertised as $78,000 with Toyota Finance available. Not sure if that was used or not. Effective and efficient yes, but so quiet they were not exciting to watch.

Ha ha. Even better you can put it on hire purchase LOL! Yes they sound unexciting. Apparently they have an engine "sound generator" like some of the new Porsches so they sound better inside than they really are. It you ask me they are about 100 bhp shy of being a really special car. The TR version does come with race seats, upgraded race brakes and coilover platform suspension with Motec Dash logger lighter 18" wheels and a fully built in cage etc.

I think you're confusing it with the road car with some of the TRD vanity options glued on. Nothing like a race car, and nowhere near as quick around a circuit.

Yes, there's a series... for now. Can't see there ever being a local Cayman series, I suspect they had enough trouble selling a full field of the TR86s... let alone something 2-3x the cost with higher running costs.

That's the road car specs, not sure what they look like for the race car.

The PCNZ classes have largely been running on semislicks in the past (certainly the 944s, etc.). I think Chris B said they're starting to run slicks now and seeing 1:15s at HD.

I think you are right. It must have been the TRD look alike road car that cost the guy 60K. It did seem to have all the fruit on it but it didnt have a cage. Im pretty sure he said 60K new.

Thats interesting that they have gone to full slicks. I know they were running the Hankook 214 last year. Goes to show how much faster a full slick is than an aggressive R compound!

Have to say Steve's got a nicer *** than I remember. Dan really should know better than wearing black knickers with a white crochet dress tho!
