Matt. Thanks for the good oil on the tyre temp probes. Not sure now weather to invest in that kit. I don't want stuff I'll never use. Got enough of that stuff already! I'll look into your unit tonight and come back to you. Thing is if I choose to drop pyrometer there are other cheaper options I'm guessing....must read up.

Hi Paul.
I cant say Ive seen it before (that I can recall). Id be almost 100% certain its an import. As such I would have guessed very likely to be a tipo. Interesting blend of body kit. RS sills, Techart rear spoiler, RS clubsport front chin spoilers. A couple of things have me curious. Brake calipers are black but discs look quite large (i.e. against 18" wheels). It sits low. The only coupe I know of in NZ in this colour is the RUF 993 BTR2 ex Singapore in 2000. That car was biffed badly in 2002 and was being rebuilt by someone somehwere. Out of the 4 BTR2 in NZ all four of them have had accident damage. It could be that car. License plate number would tell for sure.

I've got a standalone probe type and infrared pyrometers already. If you need a probe pyrometer, that device is probably a good combined option. The pyro-based temp correction is neat--the one I'm talking about is temp compensating based off of ambient. Longacre stuff is very good, I've been happy with my current Longacre analogue 0-60 psi gauge (and Chris B and a few others have them too). Specs wise they look similar, it'd be interesting to compare their readings.
I've found that using a pyrometer at regular track days is difficult because you're somewhat forced to run a cool down lap and then have to wait an indeterminate amount of time queuing and parking in the pits depending on other traffic, along with the time to get out of the car, etc. Easier at race test days (and if you're got someone to help in the pits).

Did a lap of HD with Racing Ray...on the back of the trailer of shame. He was discussing the Aventador that hit the wall at turn 2. Doing hot laps and didn't check his brakes prior to leaving the pits. Word from Ray is that you ALWAYS check brakes before needing them. Just a tap is enough. Wise old racer tips.

I stuffed up and sent an email to the seller with a BCC to my joint account. My wife is now asking what this talk of another car is about. Seems like sacrilege to pull apart a working car but it still seems right. Steve knows about the car. Just waiting for his learned reply.
