Spa is the scene of the "go cars not show cars" video. Certainly looks like a bucket list trip for a 964.

Looks like the Turbo 3.6 will require new shocks all round. Not so sure I will want to, or need to, ship it off to Europe in the next couple of years having done that. I need to do a mini road trip to settle the new shocks in. Might see where the Targa guys are overnighting/running this weekend.

John. Almost certainly those rears will be shot looking at the fronts. Make sure rubber top mounts have integrity for all four corners as ex Sing cars can show a fair bit of perishing in these components. Mate in states just did his 3.6T shocks "cheap" using HD's instead of coilovers. Pretty sure he retained the factory springs. Can check but it wasn't a bank breaker - I think it came to $4K usd all up inc fitting....

Steve was pretty adamant on Saturday that the Turbo 3.6 should not go back on the track, so it makes no sense to go all out with coil overs.

I will look at the DIY aspect of the rears. I think it may be too hard with inter cooler to remove and breaker bars etc for control arm so I'll get CCS to do that. I should get the front struts back in myself tomorrow. I'm not rushing this.

I agree you don't need Coilovers on that car. It would still be fun to do a session at the track every now and then.

I thought a regularity trial would be tame enough. It shouldn't be overly stressed at 1:28 around HD. Steve doesn't see the risk reward. I suppose his workshop and storage garages are littered with poor decisions.

You guys need to have a GoPro recording the stage into Whangapoua. That road will test the 996tt as corners are very tight.

There won't be any partying I can guarantee that after 9pm drivers will be snoring. Here's a tip for the tourists - buy a jar of instant two plastic bowls a couple of spoon a nag of your favourite muesli and so small UHT milks. You will be up real early each mornings with de briefings usually around 7am so no time for hotel and cafe breakfast and it's no fun driving on an empty stomach.....

John. Good idea re regularity trials. Would be a shame not to get some spirited use out of the turbo unless you decide it's time for it to become a collectors car.

If anyone wants try a GoPro for Targa you're welcome to borrow mine. Have a suction cup and bar mount and a 64GB card.

Whiritoa is also very windy. Great roads you guys are traveling on.

I see you have a repair stop at the end is stage 11 or 13. What time is that?

We don't know the detailed times - only start and scheduled finish. Chris/Doug may have more info?

Tried to get hold of Simon, but I doubt it's him as he doesn't track his 355. Yes, need to be careful. Simon was incredulous how much I/we spend on our cars and how few of us have Hans devices.
