You must have us pegged for being rich or something! Crazy but definitely not rich!

2015+2016 is a bit of an experiment. No work, no direct income. We have the rest of our life to work. This will be a period of travel with down time to enjoy family and reflect on things and the big question "whats next?". The key 2015 destination is South America. I should hope its alot cheaper than you are anticipating or we will only last one month instead of three! NZ will pay a fairly prominent part as well (family/friends etc). Unfortunately living in NZ is almost as expensive as travelling abroad. I think there will a trip to Australia to catch up with many friends there too. 2016 will see a number of more exotic destinations and our milestone 40th country.

The list reads as follows:
  • Drive shafts x 2
  • Rear wheel bearings x 2
  • Rennline rear suspension control arm hiem jointed links with dust covers & lockout kits x 4
  • 993TT front Caliper & Discs + bolts + squeal stars + wires
  • 993RS rear Caliper & Discs
  • Endless MX72 pads front and rear for above
  • Khuel modified air con evaporator, expansion valve, drier module & all new o rings
  • 2 x new OEM pollen filter
  • 2 x new wider blades + frames
  • some bits and bobs for the GT3

Work includes gear box rebuild (parts still unknown), full engine timing (solid lifter backdate with this car), plugs, fluids and around a half dozen small jobs need doing as always seems to be the case on old cars (little things broken or not working as well as they should etc). Labour will be about 50 hours all up.

Peter will do a full alignment when all the above work is completed. I will use the SITT settings as they are fine for the road as well as track.

I think all the above parts & labour comes to around the same as a 964 engine rebuild! Mad. You can see why Im outta brownie points.

RS uprights & tie rods. Good work mate. Ill be chasing you in no time! Make sure you get the front wheel bearings and the CV joints same time as I mentioned. They are all 20+ years old. Youll need a new front end Geo after this. Also make sure you get your geo done by Peter Alder....suggest you tell him same as my last one but with less front toe in (for the road otherwise its a go kart!). Probably could wind it down another 10mm too...

This is what the suspension will look like...

Final preparation this weekend for Targa Tour next Friday, Sat and Sun. Serviced, new front rotors, livery on, paperwork printed. Change to track wheels next on the list then it is just a full tank of gas and I'm ready.

Livery with all that advertising is pretty loud :-(

New trick for banner fitting. Too my RSG banner off and stuck it yo newsprint. Positioned and taped it onto the targa banner. Cut around it. Sprayed screen with soapy water. Stuck on new banner pre-cut. So easy. Beats shaping, trimming the banner once on the car IMO

Must be the last of the Summer weather..took MY IX XI for a final drive to the Viaduct, pat the boat etc before the trip to pommieland, saw a real nice HBC Royal blue C2, then quick sprint down the motorway with a 997 Turbo, reg GNJ***, then caught up with yellow C4, reg 911 c4S, saw him again on my back in from Gulf Harbour.. everybody smiling..
Got chopped up last night by a lime green 964, reg plate 'Frog'.. whilst tootling the Hyundai home..He ran the lights at East coast Bays Rd, so must have been under starters orders..the bloody things are everywhere.
John, just got the latest Santa Fe..even better than last one....go well in the garage

I suspect the dealer has already given the owner that news and they've decided to let the market speak. I think it will be a hard sell as Kiwis don't generally pay for low km. It just makes the car easier to sell.
Same spec as my car except it has X51 and sat nav, plus 20K fewer km.

Doug - car looks good, won't be as clean as that for a while now. Hope all goes well and no issues. See you at the start

Karting, started something here. 125 rotax in heavy will definitely feel SUPER fast and great fun!!!

I am having headaches with the cars handling. The back wheels are braking traction all the time - even just booting it across the lights. The rear 221's are stuffed, I will replace these as a starter, but may look to soften the rear sway bar back to stock?? I can't put power down??

packed up the service van today. Nearly ready just a few little things to sort on the car. trying to add some noise suppression (alternator noise I think) coming through the stilo intercom when hard wired, not when using battery. camera installed. some minor signwriting to finish.

Its nothing to do with your sway bars. That's only going to affect lateral handling. Its effectively redundant in a straight like acceleration exercise.

Not sure what setting you have your rear PSS10s on. They need to be around 6 or 7 for the road. That will allow the rear to get more purchase.

Your problem is the tyres IMO. Im a little surprised you have then on still for DD. I guess they have done 6 track days and probably many 1000's road Kms so its not surprising. They probably take too long to get warm on the road.

Lunched with Simon today. Didn't realise he crashed in practice at Taupo. Aquaplaned on the sweeper.

He confirmed that karts are a very good practice for racing. In fact he still goes to the local track and hires a kart to keep his racing eye in.

There's an open day in July at the local track. I'll do some more research before that.

For those who are bored. Boxes were made with "pre stressed" corners designed into the artwork and build buy a guy who specialises in producing matchbox boxes for collectors around the world (uses correct gauge card and true to design & dimensions etc). Invite was by way of 1:87 model Porsche on plinth with clear perspex box and guest name by way of "Personalised" European plate. Model car would fit in "invite" box at end of event. Invite box was supplied in clod tube with plastic cap ends and Porsche font mailing label...

After 14 years there are numerous stories like these with the 993. Two week holidays to the East Cape, Living in Wellington, First dates through the rimutakas, floozies you name it. Lotsa memories and 50,000 fast Kms.

Macca, We'll miss you and Jo tonight. PCNZ dinner. Mandy, Kim and Donna will be reuniting.

Also stopped in at Pete's place. Crown Range plays very nicely on the huge projector. Just as the Director intended. So glad I kept it at full HD. The impetus now is to get the videos finished and do a highlights pack, then hold a get together.
