Thanks John. Now remember reading about that previously. Makes sense.

Ssssh, Doug. We can't get the 'kill' if he stays with the faster car

Is that what Sam did for height? My springs arrive this week. Unlike you coilover people I don't have the luxury of easy ride height setting after the fact so I need to get it right first time.

Macca, hear you on your suspension journey, but for me this is a staged effort. The RUF turbo shocks and the H&R turbo springs are a classic combo for street turbos. They will do duty in the C4, then be cycled out to the Turbo 3.6, by which time I think the KW PSS preference will have been determined.

My Fuchs now sport Hankook K117 road tyres. Don't look nearly as purposeful as the Z221s but they are comfortable and I'm hoping have some modern technology in them. They will certainly last a few years.

That means the Z221s are fitted to Frankenstein D90s. I need to order some Plastidip and paint all four to retain some track cred. I've heard a few suggestions in the past. Question in my mind right now is black, white or red, and how much of the rim to paint?

I vote black, followed by white

Black for me too. IMO red or White 911's look best with black centers and polished rims. 80's throwback.

Hey ChrisM, what are your thoughts about the Cape Reinga run now that you are careless? We'd love to have you along and share some driving time. This morning I had a brainwave. Take my Boxster S. If you pay for fuel and a small contribution to maintenance you can take it. I'd love to have it on the trip too and we could swap around cars to experience the differences. Seriously you should come. No point in leaving a good car at home in the garage. It's made to be driven. In fact, the Boxster platform is amazing. Paul tried one recently and was pretty excited driving it. And there are a few favourite roads put here that I'd happily swap you with the 964 so I could thrash the twisties in a platform I'm really confident in. So, you'd be helping me out :-P

The rubbing issues;
Rear, I've had none with 8" D90's at 53 offset or 9" Cup 2's at 55. With or without 21mm spacers. 16's had track tyres and 17's had roadies.
Front, I notice there is some rubbing on full lock at the back of the well, but that could be because the second set of D90's I got had 7" fronts rather than the standard 6". Also the cup 2's are 7" with 225.45 tyres. Stock 17" was 205.50's I believe. It was most likely the fatter 17" cups that did the rubbing. No concern there as I don't often need that much lock at speed and if I did there would be worse things about to happen.

I would if it had one. Overwhelming vote was for the decal to go. Running clean now.

So Plastidip the centres and bolts but leave the polished rim bare?

Well twist my rubber arm, will ya? Ok, I'm back in for Cape Reinga then. I really appreciate the offer - super kind of you. We can swap anytime you miss the feel of going topless.

My wife was secretly hoping I would be spending more time working the farm!

You rock.
