No problem, will do.

Simon has his kids visiting that weekend and didn't think his partner would appreciate 4 more beds to make on top of that for some 'randoms' (my description of us not his).

Great article here. Not cheap though. http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...USPEN-PSS9.htm

Not that I have done this, but figure ~ $4,250 for coil overs, $1,000 to fit and $250 for geo. In total ~ $5,500. Maybe budget $6,000.

I've been following your other thoughts re changing to Gen 2. It brings back Graham's thoughts about letting Porsche do the R&D. I think you are the perfect customer for a a track oriented Boxster or Cayman.

I'm closing on your current times so we can have some great chase sessions, but it won't be fun for you if the engine longevity is in the back of your mind pushing it around the sweeper.

Any track upgrade money you put into your current car will not come back at sale time. The market is a harsh mistress. I look at the Turbo and think why is mine only worth ~ $50k, but that's the reality. I'm not going to put anything it to it now excerpt maintenance. Mind you, not that the C4 will return any spending either, nut that's an emotional ownership.

Thanks John. To work around the oil pressure issues properly would cost $4k, another $500 to protect the power steering pump from overheating (but at least it adds 4hp). Then i have a reasonably "safe" 85km engine. An option is a $25k upgrade to that low mileage chch 987.2 which has another 15hp plus a solid engine. Then the third option is a $45-55k upgrade to a spider which Porsche have done the performance development on and it is track ready. Feel like the spider is the only option which has potential to provide great performance and possibly hold its value. Downside is I'd be tracking and targa touring a $100k car. With a $50k car it feels like less is at stake.

Then Steve R tells me to get a track rat. I could have the boxster and a track rat for $100k. But I really like tracking the Boxster platform.

Lots to think about and one thing I've learned is to take time, talk, think, read to make better long term decisions. When I bought the 987.1 I didnt know about the oil pressure issues on the track. If wasnt until Peter M had his issues that I dug deep and so little is written about it.

Buy a cheap boxster and turn it into a race car (aka George-mobile) - Good for 1.14's.

I agree with Steve's philosophy. Pete is the only smart one who's taken this advise.

You are forgetting replacing all rubber bushings, engine and transmission mounts, drop links and ARB's. I reckon it's closer $10K. I think Matt spend just over this.......

Come join the 964 brigade. If you can find a good one (like the one 200m from my house) you can circulate as quickly, if not more quickly, than you do right now and have NO depreciation. Keep the Boxster as is for those long road trips you love. No changing tyres or pads each time you go to the track. The cost is the opportunity cost on the money used and of course the normal maintenance. Buy before March 7 and take it on the SITT!

CBNZ said the same thing yesterday about 944 vs 911. Although he has a 993 he made a case for tracking a 944.

I won't see Peter's choice as a full acceptance of Steve's advice until the 944 vs Cayman S track appearance ratio is established. I suspect he will be lured by the latter's competitive times and relative comfort.

It will confuse the others if left clean which may help on the track. Just cleaning up my paint work today. Getting air cooled withdrawal

Goes well with the tail and the new PSS10's.

You can have that design all to yourself.

BTW easy to confuse us, but Paul is the one who's mentioned PSS10s are on the way. I haven't spoken about suspension ....

I had a feeling that'd be your answer on both. I had to try ...
