Wahoo, Thank you Paul. That is awesome. I'll put you down as my co-driver :-)

And confirming for others following this thread, after speaking with Peter Martin from Targa NZ today for this mini targa tour both driver and co-driver need Motorsport NZ at least M grade licenses. I have one from PCNZ sprints last year.

Mini-Targa Sprints are different, more relaxed. Weird.

Ticket update.

Tickets are 6 Day General Admission. I have 5 in my possession (I got an extra from Paul).

I will use one on Saturday. Chris M will use 3, so one spare

Sunday, I will use 3 and Peter will use 2. No spare.

Next weekend we can use them all again

Actually just noticed that these are possibly one use. Need to check whether that means only valid for one day over the 6 day period. That would stuff things up.

I think it means once per day. I need to use tickets all 6 days as I'm racing both weekends and didn't get more tickets to cater for that.

At other events you can get your ticket scanned out if you leave the complex to go to an apartment, then use it again to come back in and I expect that will apply here as they need to cater for people coming and going from apartments.

I checked the website. 6 day admission are $120, single admission are $40. I think you are right. Just checking with the Classic Trial organiser.

Response from the Organiser

The tickets are 6 day tickets ,so each bar code can be used once on each of the 6 days. You can use them next week too or give them to someone.

I just ordered some tyres for the GT3. I got a quote from the UK and one from Tirerack in the USA.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports in 243/35/R20 and 305/30/R20. Shipping to NZ by similar 7 days servce air.

The Porsche shop UK pricing was 1551 GBP inc Shipping and the Tirerack order was $1802 USD including shipping.

The landed cost including GST however is even more suprising difference being 3567.20 NZD vs 2495.36 NZD which is almost an $1100 saving.

The lesson is simple as I ran a number of tyres through the same scenario (18 and 20" sizes). If you are buying N rated tyres the pricing is almost identical with the USA currently only fractionally cheaper but if you are running non N rated Michelin through the calculation the states is 28% cheaper as they manufacturer Michelin (all but N rated) in America.

Just as a point of interest the lowest quote I could get for these tyres in NZ was around $4200 although no one could commit cause it was an order only product with a six week delay!

$2,500 for those tires in those sizes is outstanding!

Does anyone know where the race results and timing is being hosted for NZFMR? I went to pril.co.nz but all it does is current race track info by the looks of it...

Sean. I was impressed. If yo compare them to the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 which are N rated and ship with the car they are $3650 landed in NZ so around $1100 more a set. In NZ I suspect $4500 cheapest deal.

I dont want MPSC2, as great a tire as I found them to be the UK and USA guys running the new 991 GT3 on track reckon they are only good for 2 (maybe 3 at a stretch) full track days (no touring included). As mine already have 3500km touring on them it would be a miracle if they would get me to SITT and return on the touring stage only let alone the tracks so i will sacrifice a brand new set of Super Sports to the cause as I suspect those will be on cords by the time I return to Auckland 5000km later! This of course assumes the GT3 goes which isnt looking anywhere near certain at all!

We get ripped off in NZ for European rubber...
