I looked at 15 mths ago & PPIed, couldn't negotiate $, needed $6-8k work. Someone else bought & did most of the work. When it became available again 2 weeks ago I got phoned....its not perfect. Needs driver's door-strap fixed "properly", 3 failed motors in heating system, engine lid struts buggered. All stuff I can live with!
Cheers - David
Yep - I was interested in that one too. Lid struts - cheap but a pain to do. Check straps - let me know when you do them and we can go in for a bulk discount. Needs proper weld job as you say.

Welcome to the air-cooled dark side.

He's also a huge PITA - don't bother playing Porsche trivia with him - you'll lose

'Lid struts - cheap but a pain to do'. They're even cheaper at Pelican than the struts for both my VX L.cruiser's back hatch & wife's A-class hatch, however both these are 5 minute jobs. Haven't done anything apart from look at a few things - even the pollen filters are a PITA. Even the fuel filter is inaccessible. Previously had 928 GTS in Germany, fuel filter, plugs - easy.
cheers - David

David, You are too kind. It took a while but you got there in the end and I think you did very well so your patience paid off.

Pete is IceMan. Need him to keep highly strung PITA, A type personality people like me under control! We all have our place in the eco system....

Very true - patience is a virtue with the lack of good quality stock of old cars in NZ. It would be easy to give up and go with a newer variant since they were built in much bigger numbers.

What's your plan with it? Daily driver or just a for weekend blasts? Sounds like the suspension & engine are sorted and only minor jobs to do so just enjoy.

At the moment I'm trying to be disciplined enuf to not take on short runs ( kids to school, supermarket etc) during "honeymoon". Have a once a week round trip of 150km for daughter's dance class out of town. Periodically out of town meetings... but daily work vehicle is Landcruiser for towing. Maybe a towbar would bring tax benefits. joke. Would like opportunity to learn to drive it "properly" - somewhere I can safely spin just to see what it feels like to explore my inadequacies. Am really enjoying at moment.

Thanks Peter, I rather like the look of the car too, but three pre-teen boys means I need to look at a 4 seater convertible for my next car if I want to continue enjoying the wind in my hair.

I hate to say it, but I'm looking at BMW 650 Cabrios.

You can fit surprisingly tall people in a 911 if it's a cab...

Who are you guys insured with? Or is this purchased specifically for the day/event? AMI accidentally forgot to increase my premiums when I replaced my Golf with the 997TT, and have now rectified the error. Looking at alternatives.
