Yes, I don't know how to read the graphs properly, but a C2 seems to pull harder up the straights looking at the comparo C2 v C4. I reckon john, me, steve and michael schumacher are all consistent when your foot is hard down.

I was trying to work the same thing out. I gave up. Too many variables as we don't know which gear and therefore point in the rev range we are in. We also could have different fuel loads etc.

What I think you can say is that your engine is pulling at least as well as my rebuilt one so that's not something you need to factor into immediate expenditure.

What I also think we can state is that my brain may be thinking full noise but my foot is backing off at points. Peter was right, it's clear in a couple of the corners.

I agree with Paul. Steve should beable to drive the C2 at 1.18 flat and the C4 at 1.19 flat with a session or two of practice. Assuming therefore there is currently 100KG difference between Johns car (minus passenger seat) and Daves car with drivers bucket seat, which sounds approximately correct, and assuming the engine are making similar output then I would guess that 70% of that 1 second is down to weight and 30% down the better adjustability of the 2WD platform. Theres a reason 2WD is the globally preferred format for track work but its not evident when running 1.23s just yet.

As soon as I get sub 1:20 I'll consider all of my collection eligible for track days. I knew there was a reason why I haven't sold them...

How does rental work? Do you pay a fixed sum + damage at your cost? What about consumables?

Weather for Uncle's tomorrow could be a bit dodgy: "Heavy squally thunderstorms evening, gusts 110km/h. NE." for Auckland, but "Mostly cloudy. Northeast freshening." for Hamilton. Hmm.

Racetech 4009HRs collected, need to give them a good going over with the vacuum cleaner but other than that they look alright. Hopefully I'll get them in tomorrow AM. Need to pick up an E12 torx socket.

Dunno about Steve, but to give you an idea, this is what Motorsport Services offer: http://rentaracecar.co.nz/cars-for-lease.php

(Shows the cost of running a Cup car for a track day, I think. I doubt they're making tonnes of money on this.)

In the scheme of things $300 to run two Playday sessions in a 997 cup car is doable. Put a passenger seat and share the fun.

Sat in them and was surprised how comfortable they were. On closer inspection they're 4009WHRs. Oh well, at least they'll still be comfy for touring.

Yeah, I have been tempted by that idea before.

Nice to see a Porsche (and 2WD at that) winning Targa. There's a short interview with the driver on the Targa NZ site, he says that yesterday they decided to take it a bit more seriously and turned the air-con off

Hey John, this is going back a little but do you still have my graphs from when I borrowed your AIM at Taupo? I wouldn't mind seeing my best one for future reference. My session shouldn't be hard to find, all the laps are 2 minutes+! I think my best was around 2:01:00.
