I know of a couple of '94 3.6 X88's in NZ that don't do any mileage at all. Both live in the Wellington region.

Just wanted to drop you guys a note and thank you for your help in finding a car and putting me in touch with people. I've picked up a 964 rs replica that's ex Bridgestone so quite "race" but will be, and have already started, softening it up for Targa spec.

Don't want to show any pictures yet, will wait until Steve and Europacific has done the firbreglass replacement and re-spray for me (yes my OCD has kicked in already!)

Anyway, will make sure I share photos of the conversion and project here and on the 964 forum. Look forward to seeing you around the traps soon.

Cheers.

Sean.

Hi mate
At least your car is in good hands. Steve is a knowledge base.
Cheers

Have fun!

My car had to be left in Opotiki after indicating low oil pressure on holiday... hoping it's just the sender unit and nothing more major. Regardless, I won't be able to pick it up until next weekend at the earliest. Not a great start to the year!

Yep, he's a great guy too. Hard to find people that align with your vision of what needs to be done so I'm happy. Now I just got to leave him alone as much as possible over the next 8 weeks to get it done! haha

In Sydney on the way back to Jakarta. Managed a couple of spins in the Turbo 3.6 while I was in NZ. When getting my car from storage, the car transporter for the Porsche Parade was collecting a 997 GT3 RS. He said he will be on station in Taupo should he be needed. Also said a couple of cars coming out from the Porsche Museum for the event. Very frustrated I won't be at the Parade but hoping those that do get there will post lots of pics and videos.

Anyone planning on doing the Targa this year (Oct) from this group?

I've entered the Tour, decided it was best to get some more time with the car and get a feel for the event before competing.

Hi Sean. After tackling some of the Targa stages on the way down and back from Taupo last week Im getting a very strong urge to join you in October. If I could get back for some extra tuition between now and then Id almost certainly say yes but right now its probably a 50%er. I like the sound of the Tour for an older 911 and driver like myself LOL!

I guess you have to be comfortable with it but the Tour is pretty well paced, some good vids on YouTube, so I hope you can be talked into it.

If we can get a crew together I'm happy to take care of organising logistics (hotels etc).

Cheers.

Me too! I was invited to consider the Targa Tour by a couple who took us on some of the old Targa stages down to taupo and back. They do it each year in their Nissan GTR although they drive a 997TT and Cayman daily. Our car handled the poor surfaces well given it had a full tank, was loaded with 120kg of luggage (5+ days worth including kitchen sink) and two up. Some of those road surfaces are really shocking though. With the PSS10s and LSD it made reasonable work of staying on the line but I suspect with 200kg less luggage and sundries it would have handled better. Probably we would be better at the end of each stages group though!

Im very tempted especially if someone can help with the organisation as being offshore makes that hard.

Put me down as a definitely maybe :-)

Cheers
