Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?

Obsessed, at last count there were at least 12 Turbo 3.6 (Bad Boy) cars in NZ and mine is one of them. For a small population we are over-represented but they are still a rare sight. Even more so with my type of ownership with it in storage for 11 months of the year.
When I wrote the post above I had attendance all sorted, but fate intervened. My team member resigned with three months notice leaving me unable to find a replacement in time to attend. Gutted doesn't begin to describe my feelings. I'll look forward to the posting of pics and hopefully a few YouTube videos.

See you at Taupo Obsessed. We (me, wife and 10 year old son) are all registered and looking forward to it. Son and I are driving Christchurch to Wellington and meeting the wife there. She is not too keen on the ferry so gets to fly and shop while she waits for us!

That's great! Sounds like it will be a fun road trip too -- I'm just going from Hamilton, and the Hamilton to Taupo trip isn't very interesting. A more substantial trip would make it seem like more of an adventure I think.

I've read that only 46 RHD's were built is 1993, and only 17 built in 1994.

As for RHD stats, that same site is up to 96. I'm working towards adding a more modern toy car to my garage (possibly V8 Aston) but I have yet to see another Porsche that is as beautiful as a Turbo 3.6. If they hadn't been produced in such a short time window in a recession I think that there would have been a lot more out there.

I have been watching for 10 years now, so that helps. BTW I helped compile the list on the following website. The info is incomplete as you need VIN numbers to absolutely identify each car but you can see use features, year, colour, mileage etc to workout the number of unique cars http://www.964turbo36.co.uk/final%20register.html

I might be able to help you out with some of those details that are incomplete.

Thanks John, I came across that site one day after I got curious about that stunning Porsche in Bad Boys. I think it must have been what gave me the feeling that NZ was very well represented.
John Bennett was a late scratching from the gymkhana but he seems to attend quite a lot of the speed-focused events. I recently came across an article in the PCNZ magazine from a couple of years ago where he went to a drag strip and beat the pants off all challengers!
I guess I'll have to just stick to watching Bad Boys and dreaming...

Hi John, you didn't happen to have your car parked outside the swimming pool on Whenuapai airbase somewhere about '97-'99? I may have photo of your car if so...

I visited Ohakea in 2001 and took a photo (in a previous life I was a techie on 75 Squadron and wanted to see the Skyhawks one last time), but it wasn't me in 1999, as I bought the car in 2001. Does it have the plate YB6257?

wow, cool! I'm a blanket counter, just started on 5 sqn. I was in OH for the disbanding of 14, 2 and 75 sqn in 2001. was one of the saddest moments of my career.
the pic i have is a side profile so no plate. its a splitting image for your avatar but it has 993 twists and clear front indicators. i'll scan it tomorrow at work.

The car was probably brand new out of the showroom if the photo was taken in 1997-1999 as the OP stated. Possible a Gillies stock car used for publicity outing. What you are looking at is a brand new NZ 993TT Im guessing.
