Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?
The best FWD right now for track work has to surely be the Renault Sport Megene 265/275/Trophy R. Current models would get you around HD in the 16s stock. Even the previous gen (and cheaper) will get you around at a similar pace (Trophy R). Brilliant balanced chassis and relatively light, unbreakable and future classics so if bought fr 30-50K used will hold value well. Running costs would be half of a 911 at the track. Seat 280 Cupra is another option. If you dont need the Porsche badge and associated tax then these are thinking mans track toys I reckon and budget too. Im thinking being European they should even be allowed through the RSG "door" for occasional track sortes to show up some of their German brethren :-). Will never sound like a NA flat 6 however or look as good as a 911...
I have both. The GT2 seats are nice because they fold (very handy for stashing helmet and gear in rear when touring) and they are definitely far superior quality. But the SP5 are lighter and much cheaper. I find the GT2 seats more comfortable for longer journeys. They are heated too!

Those Cupras are great value though and I was rather fascinated by the ones Motorsport Services was flogging off a few years back.
Very nice! Beyond the looks, my main interest was around that folding function meaning they're good for both a 3 point and a harness in a four seater. But as you're usually swapping in the SP5s for track stuff anyway, I'd likely be better to just swap mine out too that way.
Driving 3rd world roads with 200mm holes daily has the hidden benefit of making even my somewhat focused 911s seem like compliant luxury carriages. Even Jo doesnt complain (unless asked to ride 5000km in them like last year SITT !).
I think a $45k 2013 Renault M 275 left stock would provide plenty of latitude for learning? Fully useable as a DD and rad car too...and if it gets biffed go out and buy another. This is a huge advantage of this type of car. Not a rare irreplaceable relic etc.
Yes good conditioning that is. Must admit 40 odd laps of Puke's bumps and kerbs (hey, they even had kerbs on top of kerbs at some places) had me feeling my neck just a little bit today. More exercise than many realise!
OK Guys
got a preferred assembly time for Saturday??
Whos bringing partners etc so I can firm up the numbers
At present, parking on the wharf is difficult, but I am 'talking' with management for a leave pass
Metre long Pizza again, or sausages on the BBQ?
