Jason, John said you just use contact adhesive to install the sunroof felt. No special technique.

RUF Bilsteins are refurbished. $517 for two. New bump stops, valves and oil. No need for new shafts. Warwick said the tops are a different construction to his. I'm just glad I know they will fit and work.

3rd gear set $1,400 but more likely now to cost $2,000
4th gear dog $400
3/4 gear guide sleeve $2,000 (I now have an excellent quality used one from cogs cogs for $800)
Lateral and longitudinal clutch packs $3,200
Gasket set $250
Differential bolts $400
1 gallon Swepco 201 oil $220

Labour was 35 hours, of which ~ 20 related to the C4 specific parts and an issue with a skewed 4th gear dog that required re-disassembly. You could add 10 hours to the labour if the shop removed and refitted the engine and box.

Ways to keep the cost down - savings in brackets:
Remove and refit your own gearbox ($1,100)
Only replace dog gears not the full gear set ($1,500)
Buy an excellent quality used guide sleeve from me ($1,200)
Have a C2 box or C4 box with Valeo disks ($5,000)

If say Doug was to do Lola with a view to the most economical option he would remove his own engine and box, and go as follows:

3 synchros $600
3rd gear dog $400
Used 3/4 guide sleeve $800
Gasket set $250
1 gallon Swepco 201 $220
Labour - say 15 hours

All up he could possibly scrape through at circa $4,000.

I do have a tendency to become a zealot after spending money, but discount that a bit and you still have a situation that all active 964 owners will need to look at. If you think that you can shift around this problem you are likely WRONG. You're still allowing cheap parts (synchros) to damage/wear expensive parts.
Very useful John. I'm planning to do my gearbox next year along with new evaporator. Can I have 1st option on your 3/4 guide sleeve? Mean time nice easy changes are my mantra.

Pel. If you are interested in the 11 Jan Date head on over to the RSG board and sign up.

Pete. Yes Patsy is coming but I dont think Ron can make it. The last two posts n that thread are from me saying to sign up a wait list. Thought Id try here as well to see if we missed anyone.

John. Its looking so nice. Personally Im not sure I could drive it any more. Id be worried about tar from the roads getting all over the paint work :-). Appears you'll be a busy man over Xmas!

Yes Leongs GT4 should be arriving just before Xmas so will likely be present on 11th. Will be great to see one in the flesh and I have no doubt he will be driving it effectively!

I think after this morning JMcM is a pretty happy camper and the wait has been worth it. Will be a big week this coming Monday to get Herman back together ready for engine install.

Regarding the sunroof seal, make sure you use a good contact adhesive.
I'm not a fan of Ados anymore, Bostik 709 or 3M weather strip adhesive works best for me.

Once JM has been stoned a few times normal service should resume. Better bloody well not become a bonnet polisher. I didn't after new paint and now have patina building up again.

Go cars not show cars right John.

John my paint shop initially stuffed up my sunroof seal. Its a pain in the but to fit and get at the right height as a) the new seals are slightly different/fatter to the original OEM ones and b) they squash up when the sunroof closes and therefor sits higher. I would highly recommend spending some time searching RL reading threads on installation. Colin from 9M didn't a bit of a write up on it as well. Mine sat proud when I got it back and the painters had to remove and refit and get rid of all the surplus glue remnants. Do it once do it right

Getting an LVV Cert plate for one will be exciting! Looking forward to seeing one on NZ roads.

the overall width for my one is within 10mm of maximum allowance for LVV cert. should be fun.

correct, both cars are Hamilton based, both 964 C4, build happening at the moment, with the body work to be done mid Feb 2016.

both similar, but very different styles of builds, my build will have motor to match the look, hopefully.

This paint is so bright I can't get a good image on the phone. A very happy camper. Especially when I remember what the door was like. These pics are the same door as above

I know it's been discussed before but couldn't find it when searching. Where are people buying their endless brake pads and Castrol srf??

The ebc yellow stuff pads I've been running have been surprisingly underwhelming. I've done 2 twilight track days and they are almost had it. Probably have 1/3 left. Amazing really because I don't think they were any better than the original pads I had in there.
